“Siamo molto contenti di aver di nuovo corso nel mondiale dopo una pausa di oltre cinque mesi. Ricominciare con due podi in Supersport è certamente una grande soddisfazione. Un risultato che abbiamo raggiunto con entrambi i nostri piloti a dimostrazione che il “pacchetto” Kawasaki, anche se datato, è ancora molto competitivo. Consideriamo il lavoro di questi tre giorni trascorsi a Jerez come la base di partenza per il nostro campionato 2020. Per quanto riguarda invece la Superbike non siamo certamente dove vorremmo essere. Fores fa ancora fatica ad adattarsi alla moto e la moto fa fatica ad adattarsi a quelle che sono le richieste del nostro pilota. La nostra squadra sta lavorando duramente per accontentare il pilota, che da parte sua si sta impegnando al massimo per essere competitivo. Come avevo già detto ad inizio stagione, ritengo che ci vorranno almeno 4 round prima di essere in grado di esprimere tutto il nostro potenziale”.

A Jerez Oettl conquista il suo primo podio WSS! Mahias è quarto.
Seconda giornata di prove e di gare oggi sul circuito Angel Nieto di Jerez de la Frontera, nel secondo round del campionato mondiale Supersport. Ieri i due alfieri del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing: Philipp Oettl e Lucas Mahias, avevano disputato due sessioni di prove libere, concluse rispettivamente al terzo ed al quinto posto nella classifica cumulativa.
Questa mattina entrambi sono tornati in pista per la terza ed ultima sessione di prove libere. Mahias è stato autore di una grande prestazione e con un giro in 1’43”011 ha ottenuto il primo posto, migliorando di oltre mezzo secondo il suo tempo di ieri. Anche Oettl ha fatto meglio di quanto aveva fatto ieri, anche se di soli pochi millesimi, e con il crono di 1’43”441 ha terminato al quarto posto. Nella classifica cumulativa delle tre sessioni di libere Mahias è risultato secondo e Oettl quinto.
In tarda mattinata si è disputata la Superpole, che ha deciso la griglia di partenza delle due gare di questo fine settimana. Il nuovo calendario 2020 della Supersport prevede infatti due gare per ogni round.
Sia Oettl che Mahias sono stati tra gli assoluti protagonisti. Con il tempo di 1’43”068 il tedesco ha conquistato la terza posizione e la prima fila sullo schieramento di partenza delle due gare, mentre alle sua spalle, staccato di due decimi (1’43”268), si è piazzato il suo compagno di squadra Mahias, che ha quindi preso il via dalla seconda fila nella gara che è iniziata nel pomeriggio e si è disputata sulla distanza di 17 giri.
Philipp Oettl è scattato molto bene dalla prima fila, mantenendo la terza posizione nel gruppo di testa, che nell’arco di alcuni giri acquisiva un buon vantaggio sui suoi inseguitori. Il pilota tedesco lottava a lungo per la vittoria, e nei giri finali riusciva a respingere gli attacchi del suo compagno di squadra, tagliando il traguardo al terzo posto e conquistando così il suo primo podio nel mondiale Supersport. Un risultato eccezionale se si pensa che Philipp è solo alla sua seconda gara in 600.
Mahias partiva bene, ma nelle prime curve si trovava in mezzo ad un gruppo che gli faceva perdere alcune posizioni. Sesto al termine del primo passaggio, il francese rimontava sino al quarto posto, riacciuffando il gruppo di testa. Nel finale cercava di strappare la terza posizione a Oettl, ma la gara era ormai al termine e Lucas otteneva il quarto posto finale.
Domani i piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing disputeranno la terza ed ultima gara di questo weekend a Jerez.

“Sono molto contento di aver conquistato il mio primo podio nel mondiale Supersport. Manuel Puccetti mi ha dato la possibilità di far parte di questa squadra e dopo aver trascorso un anno e mezzo molto difficili ho dimostrato di saper ancora guidare una moto. Nel primo round a Phillip Island avevo un buon feeling con la moto, tanto che pensavo di poter salire sul podio, ma sono caduto ed ho gettato al vento una buona opportunità. Oggi ho capito che dovevo stare calmo. Sono partito bene e mi sono ritrovato subito nel gruppo di testa con un buon margine. Mi sono concentrato per non perdere la concentrazione e per non sprecare anche questa occasione. E’ stata una gara dura con l’asfalto a 62 gradi. Il caldo è stato tremendo, ma io sono molto felice”.

“Ho perso molto tempo all’inizio della gara con un pilota pazzo, che nei primi giri guidava come se stesse facendo l’ultimo giro della Superpole. Per questo motivo ho perso il contatto con il gruppo dei primi ed in seguito è stato impossibile riprenderli. Non sono contento della mia gara, perché avevo il ritmo per lottare per il podio, ma all’inizio ho perso molto tempo. Nell’ultimo giro mi sono divertito a lottare per il terzo posto. Pe fortuna domani c’è subito un’altra gara, e ci riproveremo. Penso che il set up della moto vada bene”.

Mahias sul podio di Jerez!. Quarto posto per Oettl.
Dopo i brillanti risultati conseguiti ieri nella prima gara, con il primo podio di Philipp Oettl nel mondiale Supersport ed il quarto posto di Lucas Mahias, il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing è stato nuovamente impegnato oggi all’Autodromo Angel Nieto di Jerez de la Frontera in Spagna, nella seconda gara del secondo round WorldSS.
Così come ieri, in seguito ai risultati della Superpole, anche oggi Oettl è scattato dalla terza casella della griglia in prima fila, mentre Mahias ha preso il via dalla quarta posizione, in seconda fila.
La gara avrebbe dovuto prendere il via alle 12,30, ma durante il giro di ricognizione, a causa di un tamponamento che causava una caduta, la procedura di partenza veniva interrotta e la gara posticipata di quasi mezzora e ridotta a 11 giri.
Allo spegnersi del semaforo rosso Oettl scattava benissimo dalla prima fila e manteneva la terza posizione, mentre Mahias terminava il primo giro al sesto posto, ma in poche tornate riusciva a portarsi alle spalle del suo compagno di squadra, per poi superarlo nel corso dell’ottavo giro. Nei giri successivi Mahias manteneva la terza posizione e conquistava il suo primo podio stagionale. Nel finale Philipp perdeva contatto con il francese e tagliava il traguardo al quarto posto.
Nella classifica del campionato Mahias è terzo con 39 punti e Oettl è quinto con 29.
Il prossimo appuntamento con il Campionato Mondiale Supersport è fissato per il prossimo weekend del 7, 8 e 9 agosto all’Autodromo do Algarve di Portimao, in Portogallo.

“Salire sul podio oggi è senza dubbio un ottimo risultato. Per quanto mi riguarda non è stata una gara perfetta, perché se ci fossero stati tre o quattro giri in più, come avviene solitamente, avrei potuto concludere al secondo posto, ma ho pensato che non era il caso di rischiare di cadere all’ultima curva dell’ultimo giro nel tentativo di passare in seconda posizione. Ho preferito portare a casa questo podio che è importante per il team e per la mia classifica in campionato”.

“E’ stata un’altra gara molto positiva e sono felice per questo risultato. Mi sarebbe piaciuto conquistare un altro podio, ma al sesto giro Mahias è stato davvero bravo, e mi ha superato. Il modo di superare in Supersport è diverso rispetto a quanto ero abituato a fare in Moto2, con staccate più decise. L’inizio della gara è stato molto buono, ma in seguito ho fatto fatica a tenere il mio ritmo. Sono comunque molto contento di questo fine settimana, nel quale abbiamo svolto davvero un ottimo lavoro e per questo devo ringraziare la mia squadra”.

Prima gara WorldSBK nel secondo round di Jerez
Giornata di prove e di gare oggi a Jerez de la Frontera per il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, che in Superbike schiera lo spagnolo Xavi Fores, il quale ieri aveva concluso al diciottesimo posto della classifica cumulativa delle due sessioni di prove libere, con il tempo di 1’41”704.
Questa mattina Fores è tornato sulla quella che si può considerare la sua pista di casa, per il terzo ed ultimo turno di libere, concludendo in diciannovesima posizione e migliorando il suo best lap con un giro in 1’41”414.
In tarda mattina si è disputata la seconda Superpole stagionale. Lo spagnolo del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing ha migliorato nettamente il suo tempo sul giro (1’40”161) ed ha concluso al sedicesimo posto. Di conseguenza partirà dalla sesta fila nella prima gara di questo fine settimana, che ha preso il via nel pomeriggio, e si è disputata sulla distanza di 20 giri. La partenza di Xavi è stata abbastanza buona e gli ha permesso di recuperare subito alcune posizioni. Purtroppo con il passare dei giri, anche a causa del grande caldo, Fores non trovava un ritmo che gli permettesse di recuperare posizioni e stazionava nel secondo gruppo degli inseguitori, per poi concludere in tredicesima posizione. a
Domani il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing disputerà due gare: la Superpole Race, che si corre sulla distanza di soli 10 giri, e la terza ed ultima gara di questo round spagnolo, sempre sulla distanza di 20 giri.

“Non sono soddisfatto della mia gara odierna. Faccio ancora fatica a far girare la moto e non ho ancora il giusto feeling con l’avantreno e devo stare molto attento a non commettere errori per non cadere. Questo mi sta limitando molto, ma di certo non smettiamo di lavorare e di impegnarci alla ricerca del miglior set up. Per domani proveremo ancora qualcosa nel warm up e spero di poter fare un altro piccolo passo in avanti. Il gruppo dei primi oggi non era così lontano e se riusciremo a migliorarci potremo fare una buona gara. Un grande grazie alla mia squadra”.

Superpole Race e Gara2 WorldSBK a Jerez
Si sono disputate oggi all’Autodromo Angel Nieto di Jerez de la Frontera in Spagna, le due ultime gare del secondo round del campionato Mondiale Superbike: la Superpole Race e Gara2.
Nella giornata di ieri Xavi Fores. il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, aveva ottenuto la sedicesima posizione in Superpole, mentre in gara1 aveva chiuso al tredicesimo posto. Oggi, in una giornata molto calda e soleggiata, lo spagnolo è sceso in pista per il warm up del mattino, con l’obiettivo di raffinare il set up della sua Ninja in vista delle successive gare.
La Superpole Race ha preso il via alle 11, e si è disputata come sempre sulla distanza di 10 giri. Dopo una buona partenza che gli consentiva di mantenere la posizione, Xavi si impegnava in alcuni sorpassi e anche grazie ad un buon passo di gara, terminava al dodicesimo posto. A seguito di questo risultato il pilota spagnolo è partito dalla dodicesima casella della griglia, in quarta fila, nell’ultima gara del weekend che si è corsa sulla distanza di 20 giri.
La sua partenza non è stata velocissima ed al primo giro Fores transitava in quattordicesima posizione. A metà gara saliva al tredicesimo posto, posizione che manteneva sino al traguardo, lottando in un gruppo di quattro piloti.
In campionato Fores è attualmente in quindicesima posizione con 11 punti.
Il prossimo appuntamento con il Campionato Mondiale Superbike è fissato per il prossimo weekend del 7,8 e 9 agosto all’Autodromo do Algarve di Portimao, in Portogallo.

“Oggi abbiamo fatto un importante miglioramento rispetto a ieri. Ora inizio a capire maggiormente la mia moto e a trovare il feeling con l’avantreno. Purtroppo partendo indietro sono poi costretto a stressare le gomme per recuperare posizioni, specialmente quella anteriore, e questo complica le cose. Oggi ho tenuto il passo di piloti che ieri non riuscivo ad avvicinare e questo è un riscontro positivo del lavoro che stiamo svolgendo sia io che la mia squadra, che voglio ringraziare per l’aiuto che mi ha fornito qui a Jerez”.

“We’re really pleased to have resumed racing after a break of more than five months and starting with two podiums in Supersport is definitely more than satisfying. A result we’ve achieved with both riders, proof that the Kawasaki “package” is still very competitive even if dated. We consider our work over the three days at Jerez to be the starting point for our 2020 championship. As for Superbike, we’re definitely not where we want to be. Forés is still struggling to adapt to the bike and the bike struggles to adapt to the requirements of the rider. Our team is working hard to satisfy the rider, who for his part is really doing his best to be competitive. As I already said at the start of the season, I think we need at least four rounds before we are able to express our full potential.”

Oettl scores his first WSS podium at Jerez! Mahias fourth
Day two of the second round of the Supersport world championship played out today at the Angel Nieto di Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Spain. Yesterday, the two Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders, Philipp Oettl and Lucas Mahias, completed two free practice sessions which they closed in third and fifth place respectively in terms of the final standings.
This morning both were back on track for the third and final practice. Mahias put in a great performance and with a time of 1’43”011 he scored first place, improving by more than half a second on his best of yesterday. Oettl also did better than yesterday, improving by a fraction of a second to finish fourth with a time of 1’43”441. In the overall classification for the three sessions, Mahias placed second and Oettl fifth.
The Superpole played out later in the morning, establishing the starting grid for the weekend’s two races. The new 2020 Supersport calendar foresees two races per round.
Both Oettl and Mahias were among the protagonists. With a time of 1’43”068, the German qualified third, scoring a front row start for the races, while his team-mate Mahias closed just two tenths behind him (1’43”268) to qualify on row two of the grid for the afternoon’s 17-lap race.
Philipp Oettl got away well from the front row, holding third place as part of the leading group, which built up a good lead over the chasing pack in the space of just a few laps. The German rider battled long and hard for the win and was able to fight off the attacks of his rivals in the final stages, ultimately crossing the line in third place and scoring his first Supersport podium. An exceptional result considering this is only Philipp’s second race in 600.
Mahias started well, but through the first turns he got caught up in a group that caused him to lose several positions. Sixth at the end of lap one, the Frenchman moved up to fourth, catching the leading group. In the final stages he tried to battle Oettl for third but the race was as good as over and Lucas crossed the line fourth.
Tomorrow will see the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders take part in the second race at Jerez.

“I am very happy with my first WorldSSP podium. Manuel Puccetti gave me the opportunity to ride in this team and after one and a half difficult years before then it was a good sign that I can still ride a bike. At the first round in Phillip Island I had a good feeling with the bike and I thought I could be on the podium, but I threw it away. I thought today I could stay calm. I had a good start and immediately we were in front and the gap was already there. I said to myself to keep calm and do not throw it way again. The front was difficult in the race as we had 62°C on the asphalt. The heat was terrible but I am happy.”

“I lost a lot of time in the beginning of the race with a crazy rider, riding like it was still qualifying, in the first two or three laps. So I lost the group and the leaders and afterwards it was impossible to make it back up. I am not happy for sure because I have the pace to fight for the podium, but I lost a lot of time in the beginning. I had a nice fight in the last lap. Another race tomorrow, and we will try again. I think the bike set-up is OK.”

Mahias on the podium at Jerez! Fourth for Oettl
After the excellent results scored in yesterday’s race, Philipp Oettl scoring his first World Supersport podium and Lucas Mahias finishing fourth, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing was back out today at the Autodromo Angel Nieto in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, for the second race of this second WorldSS round.
Like yesterday, the Superpole results means that Oettl once again started from third on the grid, on the front row, while Mahias lined up in fourth, on row two.
The race should have got underway at 12.30pm CET but a crash during the sighting lap meant that the starting procedure was interrupted, and the race delayed by almost 30 minutes and reduced in length to 11 laps.
When the lights went out, Oettl got away very well from the front row, holding third, while Mahias was lying sixth by the end of lap one but was quickly able to move up behind his team-mate and then pass him during the course of lap eight. Over the subsequent laps, Mahias held third place and thus scored his first podium of the season. In the final stages, Philipp lost contact with the Frenchman and crossed the line fourth. In the championship standings, Mahias lies third with 39 points and Oettl fifth with 29.
The next Supersport World Championship round will run next weekend, 7-9 August, at the Autodromo do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal.

“For sure it is a nice result to take a podium today. Not the perfect race because I think if I had maybe three or four laps, more like a normal race, it may have been possible to finish second. But, I did not think it was the time to crash in the last corner of the last lap trying to pass. I kept this podium position which is nice for the team, and for me in championship standings.”

“It was another good race and I am happy for the result. I wanted to have another podium but Mahias was really strong after six laps. The style of how you pass in WorldSSP seems to be a little bit different. It seems to be more of a block-pass style. The beginning of the race was good but afterwards we struggled a little bit. I am happy with the weekend because we did a good job again, so I need to say thank you to the team.”

Superpole Race and WorldSBK race 2 at Jerez
The Autodromo Angel Nieto circuit in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain has today hosted the final two races making up round 2 of the Superbike world championship, the Superpole Race and Race 2.
During yesterday, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Xavi Forés qualified sixteenth in Superpole, before crossing the line in thirteenth place in race 1. Today, in hot and sunny conditions, the Spaniard headed out on track for warm-up, with the aim of refining the setup of his Ninja ahead of the subsequent races.
The Superpole race got underway at 11am and ran over a distance of 10 laps as usual. After making a good start that allowed him to hold his position, Xavi executed a series of passes and harnessed his strong race pace to finish in twelfth place. This result saw him start the weekend’s final 20-lap race in twelfth position, on the fourth row. The Spaniard didn’t make the fastest start and on lap one he was lying fourteenth. By mid-race he had moved up to thirteenth place, a position he held to the line, fighting in a group comprising four riders.
Forés currently lies fifteenth in the championship standings with 11 points.
The next round of the Superbike World Championship will take place already next weekend, 7-9 August, at the Autodromo do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal.

“Today we have taken an important step forward compared to yesterday. I’m starting to understand my bike and find the right feeling with the front. Unfortunately, starting from further back I was forced to stress the tyres to make up places, particularly the front tyre, and that complicates things. Today I kept pace with riders who I was unable to get close to yesterday and that’s a positive sign in terms of the work both me and the team are doing. My thanks go to the team for all their help here at Jerez.”
