“In questo round abbiamo conquistato il nostro miglior risultato stagionale, con il secondo posto di Mahias nella gara Supersport di ieri. Purtroppo oggi Lucas è caduto, ma sono cose che possono succedere. Oettl ha raccolto due risultati positivi e siamo quindi abbastanza soddisfatti. Per quanto riguarda Fores sembra che finalmente si possa vedere la luce in fondo al tunnel. In gara2 aveva raggiunto l’ottava posizione, ma purtroppo a quattro giri dalla fine a causa di un contatto con un altro pilota, è svanito quello che avrebbe potuto essere il primo piazzamento nella top ten. Resta la certezza di aver fatto un buon lavoro assieme a Xavi e di essere sulla strada giusta”.

Secondo posto di Mahias in gara1 a Portimao!
La pista di Portimao in Portogallo ha ospitato oggi la Superpole e la prima gara (la quarta stagionale) del terzo round del Campionato Mondiale Supersport.
Nelle due sessioni di prove libere di ieri Lucas Mahias (1’46”062) e Philipp Oettl (1’46”522) avevano ottenuto rispettivamente la quarta e la decima posizione. Questa mattina in una calda giornata di sole, i due alfieri del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing hanno disputato il terzo ed ultimo turno di prove libere, migliorando il loro tempo sul giro. Nella classifica cumulativa delle tre sessioni Mahias (1’45”515) ha ottenuto il terzo posto mentre Oettl (1’46”230) il nono.
Nella terza Superpole stagionale del WorldSS grande prestazione di Mahias, che con il tempo di 1’44”924 ha concluso al terzo posto. Purtroppo però al termine della sessione il francese veniva penalizzato per aver effettuato un sorpasso in regime di bandiere gialle durante il suo giro veloce, che veniva cancellato e Lucas retrocesso al quinto posto. Di conseguenza ha ottenuto la seconda fila sullo schieramento di partenza delle gare di questo terzo round, proprio come Oettl che grazie ad un giro in 1’45”461 ha ottenuto il sesto posto.
La quarta gara del campionato si è disputata nel pomeriggio sulla distanza di 17 giri. La partenza dei piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing è stata molto veloce, con Mahias che si è portato al quarto posto e Oettl al sesto. Nei giri seguenti il francese restava in quarta posizione nel gruppo di testa, mentre Phillip era ancora al sesto posto, ma perdeva il contatto con i primi. Nel quinto giro Lucas superava il pilota che lo precedeva ed andava ad occupare la terza posizione, per poi passare al secondo posto a seguito della caduta di uno dei piloti che lo precedevano. Mahias manteneva la posizione sino sotto la bandiera a scacchi e conquistava così il suo secondo podio stagionale!
Oettl purtroppo perdeva una posizione nel finale e concludeva la gara al settimo posto.
Nella classifica del campionato Mahias è terzo con 62 punti, mentre Oettl occupa la quinta posizione con 38.
Domani i piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing disputeranno la quinta gara del campionato mondiale Supersport 2020.

“Questa gara è stata difficile e le condizioni erano un poco diverse rispetto a quelle incontrate nelle prove libere e nelle qualifiche. Inoltre questa è stata la prima volta che abbiamo girato alle cinque e con molto caldo. C’era tanto vento ed ha influenzato le prestazioni della nostra moto. Considerando che non ho una posizione molto aerodinamica in sella, ho perso tempo per adattarmi al forte vento e non è stato per niente facile. Nei primi giri quando ho visto il gruppo di testa allontanarsi ho iniziato a spingere forte, ma ero indietro di due secondi ed il mio ritmo non era sufficiente per tornare con loro. Mi sono reso conto che non era possibile ed ho preferito mantenere la mia posizione. Quando ho visto Jules cadere ho pensato, che tutti dovevano essere al limite e quindi ho mantenuto il vantaggio sul gruppo che mi seguiva ed ho portato a casa il secondo posto”.

“Dopo una buona qualifica, penso che abbiamo fatto un buon passo nella giusta direzione, ma la gara è stata strana. Facevo fatica a fermare la moto. Nelle prove avevamo lavorato per risolvere questo problema, ma poi in gara è stato tutto diverso rispetto alle qualifiche. Allora avevamo un buon feeling e tutto andava bene, ma in gara è stato più difficile. Nei tratti più lenti inizialmente ho potuto seguire i primi, ma poi il posteriore ha spinto sulla parte anteriore e non sappiamo ancora il perché. Penso che non sia dipeso dai freni. Senza questo problema probabilmente avrei potuto essere nel secondo gruppo oggi. Stasera controlleremo tutto e domani faremo una gara migliore”.

Oettl quinto in gara2 WSS a Portimao. Mahias cade
Seconda ed ultima giornata di gare oggi per il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing all’Autodromo Internacional do Algarve di Portimao in Portogallo, nel terzo round del campionato mondiale Supersport.
Ieri la squadra di Manuel Puccetti ha festeggiato un altro podio. Dopo i due terzi posti ottenuti a Jerez da Oettl e da Mahias la settimana scorsa, ieri il francese ha tagliato il traguardo in seconda posizione, mentre Oettl ha concluso settimo.
Oggi, dopo il warm up del mattino, i due piloti hanno disputato la seconda gara di questo weekend, sempre sulla distanza di 17 giri. In seguito ai risultati conseguiti nella Superpole, entrambi hanno preso il via dalla seconda fila, il francese dalla quinta casella ed il tedesco dalla sesta.
Purtroppo subito dopo il via Mahias cadeva nel percorrere la seconda curva. Rialzatosi senza aver per fortuna riportato nessuna conseguenza fisica, provava a riprendere la gara, ma nella caduta la sua moto si era danneggiata e Lucas era costretto al ritiro.
Oettl era autore di una buona partenza e si portava in settima posizione, per poi passare sesto nel gruppo degli immediati inseguitori. Negli ultimi due giri Philipp incrementava il proprio ritmo e con molta grinta ed alcuni coraggiosi sorpassi riusciva ad aggiudicarsi la quinta posizione finale.
Nella classifica del campionato Mahias mantiene la terza posizione con 62 punti, mentre Oettl è quinto con 49.
Il prossimo appuntamento con il Campionato Mondiale Supersport è fissato per il weekend del 28, 29 e 30 agosto al Motorland Aragon di Alcaniz in Spagna.

“Non ho molto da dire sulla mia gara odierna, se non che non ho capito i motivi della mia caduta. Ho perso all’improvviso l’anteriore nella seconda curva, una curva veloce, ma non so il perché. Forse ho leggermente toccato la parte interna del cordolo, ma non ne sono certo. Darò certamente il massimo anche ad Aragon, sperando di non cadere ancora!”.

“E’ stata una gara difficile sin dall’inizio, ma ho avuto un feeling migliore con la mia moto rispetto alla gara di ieri. La mia moto è divertente da guidare, ma su questo tracciato non lo è tanto, in quanto a dire il vero sembra più una pista da cross! Il mio obiettivo era quello di terminare la gara nelle prime cinque o sei posizioni, perché questa è una pista difficile. Quindi non sono del tutto insoddisfatto del mio risultato di oggi – non di quello di ieri – e anzi ne sono felice”.

Tredicesimo posto per Fores in gara1 a Portimao
La Superpole e la prima gara del terzo round del campionato mondiale Superbike sono andate in archivio oggi all’Autodromo Internacional do Algarve di Portimao in Portogallo. Ieri Xavi Fores, il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing aveva disputato due sessioni di prove libere, concluse al sedicesimo posto con il tempo di 1’43”890.
Nel terzo ed ultimo turno di prove libere di questa mattina, lo spagnolo si è impegnato assieme alla sua squadra alla ricerca del migliore assetto per la sua Ninja, in previsione della successiva Superpole e della gara del pomeriggio. Xavi si è migliorato di quasi un secondo e con un giro in 1’42”879 ha chiuso al quindicesimo posto nella classifica cumulativa delle tre sessioni di libere.
In Superpole il miglior giro di Fores è stato in 1’42”421 con il quale ha ottenuto il quindicesimo posto nella classifica dei tempi e la quinta fila sulla griglia di partenza della prima gara di questo weekend portoghese, che si è disputata nel pomeriggio sulla distanza di 20 giri.
Dopo una buona partenza il pilota spagnolo transitava nei primi giri al quattordicesimo posto, lottando in un gruppo di quattro piloti che si scambiavano continuamente le posizioni. A metà gara Xavi saliva in tredicesima posizione e la manteneva sin sotto la bandiera la scacchiera a scacchi.
Domani Fores disputerà la Superpole Race, che si corre sulla distanza di soli 10 giri, e la terza ed ultima gara del terzo round, ancora sulla distanza di 20 giri.

“Oggi abbiamo fatto un altro passo in avanti, ma in gara partendo così indietro non sono riuscito ad ottenere il risultato che speravo. Ho lottato in un gruppo di piloti e alla fine abbiamo perso tempo a superarci l’uno con l’altro e alla fine non sono riuscito a fare meglio del tredicesimo posto. Mi sento comunque meglio con la mia moto e sono sempre più sciolto anche se non mi sento ancora completamente a mio agio ed in grado di guidare come potrei. Domani sarà importante la Superpole Race per migliorare la mia posizione di partenza. Se riuscissi a partire più avanti potrei stare con i piloti più veloci e potrei certamente migliorare il feeling con la mia Ninja. Sto facendo più fatica di quanto pensassi, ma questo mi da ulteriore forza e voglia di lottare, per me e per la mia squadra che crede sempre in me”.

Superpole Race e Gara2 WorldSBK a Portimao
Il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing ed il suo pilota Xavi Fores hanno disputato oggi all’Autodromo Internacional do Algarve di Portimao in Portogallo le ultime due gare del terzo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike.
Nella giornata di ieri Fores aveva disputato la Superpole nella quale aveva ottenuto il quindicesimo posto, ed era quindi partito dalla quinta fila nella gara che è disputata nel pomeriggio, e che ha visto il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing concludere in tredicesima posizione.
Questa mattina Xavi è sceso in pista per il warm up, nel quale ha provato gli ultimi accorgimenti in vista delle due gare odierne, ad iniziare dalla Superpole Race, che ha preso il via alle 11 e si è disputata come sempre sulla distanza di 10 giri.
Fores è scattato bene al via e si è portato al quattordicesimo posto. A metà gara circa è riuscito a recuperare una posizione ed a chiudere tredicesimo
In gara2 il pilota spagnolo è partito molto bene e nei primi giri ha occupato la nona posizione. Grazie ad un buon ritmo Fores si portava all’ottavo posto, quando purtroppo nel corso del sedicesimo giro veniva urtato da iun altro pilota che lo faceva cadere, senza possibilità di riprendere la gara. Un vero peccato perché Xavi stava facendo un’ottima gara ed avrebbe probabilmente raccolto il miglior risultato di questo suo difficile inizio di campionato.

“Nella Superpole Race abbiamo provato un assetto che pensavamo ci potesse portare dei benefici ma purtroppo non ha funzionato ed ho fatto fatica a restare nel mio gruppo. In gara2 sono partito bene ed ero nel gruppo degli inseguitori e non facevo fatica a stare con loro, Quando le gomme calano faccio ancora fatica con la parte elettronica, e questo è il problema più importante che dobbiamo risolvere. Purtroppo a causa di un contatto con Gerloff sono caduto e non ho potuto conquistare un risultato che avrebbe dato un’iniezione di fiducia sia a me che alla mia squadra. Sono certo che ci potremo rifare ad Aragon che è una pista che mi piace molto”.

“During this round, we’ve scored our best result of the season, with a second place for Mahias in yesterday’s Supersport race. Unfortunately Lucas crashed today but these things happen. Oettl has scored two positive results and so we’re quite happy. As for Fores, it looks like we’re finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel. In race 2, he had moved up to eighth place, but unfortunately contact with another rider four laps from the end prevented him from scoring what would have been a top ten result. The fact remains that we know we’ve done good work with Xavi and are on the right path.”

Second for Mahias in race 1 at Portimao!
The Portimao track in Portugal today hosted the Superpole and first race (the fourth of the season) making up round three of the Supersport world championship.
During yesterday’s two free practice sessions, Lucas Mahias (1’46”062) and Philipp Oettl (1’46”522) finished in fourth and tenth place respectively. This morning, in hot and sunny conditions, the two Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider took part in the third and final practice, improving on their best times set yesterday. In the combined standings after the three sessions, Mahias (1’45”515) concluded third while Oettl (1’46”230) was ninth.
In the third Superpole of the WorldSS season, Mahias put in a great performance, setting a best of 1’44”924 to finish third. Unfortunately, though, at the end of the session, the Frenchman was penalised for having made a pass under the yellow flag on his fast lap, meaning that his time was cancelled and Lucas was moved back to fifth place. As a result, he scored a second row start for the race, just like Oettl who closed sixth with a time of 1’45”461.
The fourth race of the championship took place this afternoon over a distance of 17 laps. The Kawasaki Puccetti Racing both made a very fast start, with Mahias lying fourth and Oettl sixth. Over the subsequent laps, the Frenchman held fourth, part of the leading group, while Phillip was still sixth but lost contact with those ahead. On lap five Lucas overtook the rider immediately ahead of time to move into third place, before progressing to second following a crash for one of the rider ahead. Mahias held his position to the line, passing under the chequered flag to score his second podium of the season!
Oettl unfortunately lost a position in the final stages to conclude the race in seventh position.
In the championship standings, Mahias lies third with 62 points, while Oettl is fifth with 38.
Tomorrow will see the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders take part in the fifth race of the 2020 Supersport world championship.

“This race it was difficult and the conditions were a little bit different compared to free practice and qualification. This is also the first time we have ridden on track at five o’clock and it was warmer. There was a lot of wind and it affected our bike. Also me, as I do not have a good position for the aero, so I lost a lot of time and the feeling was not so nice in the wind. I lost a lot of time. When I looked at the front group in the beginning I started to push but I was two seconds behind and the pace was not enough to come back to them. I realised it was not possible and to finish well was OK. When I saw Jules crash I thought, ‘OK, everybody must be on the limit’ so to have a gap on the group behind we took away second place.”

“After a good qualifying, I think we made a good step in the right direction but the race was strange. I could not stop the bike and we had done good work in practice to help us stop the bike but it fell completely different compared to qualifying. We had a good feeling then and all was good but in the race it was more difficult. In the slow corners I could follow in the beginning but then the rear really pushed the front, and I do not know why. I think it was not a brake problem, as such. Without this issue I think I could have been in the second group today. We will check everything tonight and have a better race tomorrow.”

Oettl fifth in WSS race 2 at Portimao. Mahias crashes
Kawasaki Puccetti Racing concludes the second race day making up round three of the Supersport world championship at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal.
Yesterday saw Manuel Puccetti’s team celebrate another podium. After scoring two third-place finishes with Oettl and Mahias last weekend at Jerez, yesterday the Frenchman crossed the line in second position while Oettl closed seventh.
Today, after the morning warm-up, the two riders took part in the second of the weekend’s 17-lap races. Thanks to their Superpole results, both riders lined up on row two of the grid, the Frenchman fifth and the German sixth.
Unfortunately, Mahias crashed almost immediately at turn two. Unhurt, he tried to continue with the race but unfortunately his bike was damaged in the incident and Lucas was forced to retire.
Oettl made a good start and moved into seventh position, before progressing to sixth and joining the chasing group. Over the last two laps, Phillip upped his pace and with grit and determination was able to make up another position to cross the line in fifth place.
In the championship standings, Mahias lies third with 62 points, while Oettl is fifth with 49.

“I cannot speak a lot about the race but I did not understand the crash. I lost the front directly in the second corner, a fast corner. I do not understand why. Maybe I touched the inside of the kerbs a little but I am not really sure. I will try my best again at Aragon and please no crash in the race next time!”

“It was a tough race from the beginning but I had a better feeling compared to yesterday’s race. The bike felt fun to ride but not on this track so much because it is like a motocross track, to be honest! My ambition was to finish the race inside the top five or six, because this track is so, so difficult. So I am not too unhappy about this result today – not yesterday – but I am happy with today.”

Thirteenth for Fores in race 1 at Portimao
The Superpole and first race making up this third round of the Superbike world championship played out today at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal. Yesterday, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Xavi Fores completed the first two practice sessions in sixteenth place, with a time of 1’43”890.
In this morning’s third and final practice, the Spaniard worked with his team to find the best setting for his Ninja, in preparation for the subsequent Superpole and afternoon race. Xavi improved by almost a second and a best of 1’42”879 saw him close in fifteenth place in the combined free practice classification.
In Superpole, Fores’ fastest time was a 1’42”421 with which he earned the fifteenth spot on the grid, or rather a fifth-row start for the afternoon’s 20-lap race.
Having made a good start to the race, the Spaniard was lying fourteenth through the opening laps, fighting in a group of four riders who continued to exchange positions. At the mid-race point, Xavi moved up to thirteenth, a position he was able to hold to the line.
Tomorrow Fores will take part in the short 10-lap Superpole race and the third and final race of the weekend, twenty laps in length like race 1.

“We’ve taken another step forward today but starting so far back in the race meant I wasn’t able to score the result I was hoping for. I battled as part of a group of riders and lost time with all the passing and re-passing so in the end I couldn’t do more than thirteenth. I feel better with my bike through and am increasingly smooth though I’m not yet completely comfortable or able to ride as I want. Tomorrow’s Superpole Race will be important, as I hope to improve my starting position for race 2. If I can start further up on the grid I can stick with the faster riders and definitely improve my feeling with the Ninja. I’m struggling more than I expected to, but this only pushes me to fight on, for myself and also for my team that trusts in me.”

Superpole Race and WorldSBK race 2 at Portimao
Kawasaki Puccetti Racing and rider Xavi Fores have completed the final two races making up round three of the Superbike world championship at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal.
Yesterday saw Fores take part in the Superpole, scoring a fifteenth place finish which meant he lined up on the fifth row of the grid for the afternoon’s race, one in which the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider crossed the line in final thirteenth position.
This morning Xavi was out on track for the warm-up, in which he tested some final adjustments ahead of today’s two races, which started with the 10-lap Superpole race at 11am local time. Fores made a good start to that race and was lying fourteenth. Around the mid-race point, he made up a position to ultimately cross the line thirteenth.
In race 2, the Spaniard got off the line well and was up into ninth place through the opening laps. Thanks to his strong pace, Fores then moved up into eighth, when unfortunately he was hit by another rider which caused him to crash on lap sixteen. The Spaniard was unable to continue with his race, a real pity because he had been doing well and would have probably scored his best result of the (rather difficult) season so far.
The next round of the Superbike world championship will take place over the weekend of 28-30 August at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Alcaniz, Spain.

“In the Superpole Race we tried a setting that we thought would offer advantages but it didn’t work and I struggled to stick with my group. In race 2, I started well and was part of the chasing group, easily able to run with them. When the tyres drop, I’m still struggling with the electronics and that’s the biggest problem we have to solve right now. Unfortunately, contact with Gerloff caused me to crash and I was unable to score the kind of result that would have brought encouragement to both me and the team. I’m sure we can make up for things at Aragon, a track I really like.”
