In the points at a challenging track

In Supersport, our riders reached the top ten in both races. We had a pole position and second-place finish at Jerez, and so we were hoping for more here, but the Portuguese track is always tough for us and our bikes. Tito Rabat, making his debut with our bike, also scored points in Superbike. It couldn’t have been easy for him to come to a new team with a bike he didn’t know towards the end of a difficult championship like Superbike and against rivals who were already running their third consecutive round and so really in synch with their bikes. He clearly needs more time to get to know the team and rider, and this is why we’ve confirmed him for the next two rounds, so we’ll finish out the 2021 season together.

First points for Rabat in WorldSBK race 1 at Portimao

The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal has today hosted the Superpole and first race making up round eleven of the Superbike World Championship. In the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing garage, Tito Rabat is standing in for injured Lucas Mahias on the Ninja ZX-10RR. Yesterday, the Spaniard completed the first two free practice sessions, working to find good feeling with the bike and track and closing in twentieth place, with a time of 1’44”352.
This morning, Rabat was back on track for the third and final free practice in which he further improved on his lap time (1’43”980), confirming twentieth position.
In the eleventh Superpole of the season, which got underway in the late morning, Tito was unable to exploit the qualifying tyre and, with a time of 1’44”000, again closed in twentieth place. As a result, the Spaniard lined up on the seventh row of the grid for the afternoon’s race.
Race 1 got underway in the early afternoon. Rabat got away well and was soon up into fifteenth place. Over the subsequent laps, his pace dropped a little which caused him to lose a few positions. In the final stages however, the Spaniard climbed back up to cross the line in thirteenth place.

“The race didn’t go too badly. I saw improvement with respect to the practices and the Superpole, but we need to take another step forward. The positive thing is that I was enjoying myself early on and was able to maintain good pace, but for tomorrow I want to do a lot better, also because I feel really motivated. Thanks to my team for all their hard work.”

Positive weekend for Rabat, confirmed until the end of the year

Today brought rain and cooler conditions at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao for the final day of the eleventh Superbike World Championship round, in which Kawasaki Puccetti Racing has fielded Tito Rabat as a replacement for Lucas Mahias. In his debut race yesterday, the Spaniard finished thirteenth aboard the Kawasaki ZX-10RR.
This morning, in warm-up, Tito worked with his team to try and adapt his Ninja to the wet track and the altered weather conditions.
The Superpole race got underway in the late morning and, like yesterday, Rabat started from row seven, having qualified twentieth in the Superpole. The rain stopped before the race, but the track was completely wet. Taking a cautious approach so as to avoid any mistakes, the Spaniard crossed the line fourteenth.
The Portuguese track was totally dry in time for race 2. Rabat again lined up on row seven, as a result of his final position in the Superpole Race. He made a good start and was able to make up a few positions. Unfortunately though, during the course of lap six, Tito suffered a technical problem and was forced to retire. He’ll have chance to make up for during the last two WorldSBK round though, as he has been confirmed by Kawasaki Puccetti Racing for the rest of the season.
The next Superbike World Championship round will run on 15-17 October at the San Juan Villicum circuit in Argentina.

“Firstly, I want to thank Kawasaki Puccetti Racing for this weekend, which has been a great experience for me. Friday wasn’t easy, but then I was more comfortable with my new bike in the race. In the Superpole race, which ran on a wet track, we didn’t have time to find the best set-up for my bike, but I finished the race without making mistakes. In race 2, I was going well and felt comfortable on the bike, but unfortunately, a technical problem forced me to retire. Overall, I’m pleased with how we’ve done this weekend and am pleased to be able to compete in the next two rounds with Manuel Puccetti and his team.”

Oncu and Oettl in the points in WorldSSP race 1 at Portimao

It was hot and sunny at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal for today’s Superpole and the first race of this tenth WorldSSP round.
Yesterday, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders Can Oncu (1’44”954) and Philipp Oettl (1’44”956) completed the two free practice sessions, finishing in seventh and eighth place respectively, just two thousandths of a second apart. The pair returned to the winding Portuguese track this morning for the tenth Superpole of the season. Oncu improved on his best time by almost a second (1’44”077) to score fifth place, while Oettl was also able to lower his time (1’44”458) to finish ninth.
As a result, the Turkish rider lined up on the second row of the grid and the German from the third for the afternoon’s race. Oncu made a very fast start, which allowed him to move into second place. But as the race went on, the Turk gradually lost contact with the leading group and ultimately finished eighth. Oettl oscillated between ninth and tenth place throughout the race, closing ninth, right behind his team-mate.
In the championship standings, Oettl is fourth with 224 points. Oncu lies tenth, with 121.

“I think the start was good and the first laps also but when we started to lose grip it began to get really difficult. There was nothing I could do about this. I tried everything I could but I couldn’t do more. It was like this to the end. We need to keep pushing tomorrow.”

“It was a hard race today; very fast at the front and I was not fast enough. I felt not bad on the bike, just not fast enough. Here, it seems like some of the other riders have the little bit extra that I had in Jerez, so it is was very difficult today. At the moment is a challenging to extract the most out of the bike. For tomorrow I have an idea what we can change to get a little bit closer and to have a little bit of a better feeling.”

Race 2 sees Oettl and Oncu back in the points at Portimao

Kawasaki Puccetti Racing has now completed round ten of the Supersport World Championship at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal.
Yesterday, Philipp Oettl and Can Oncu took part in Superpole and race 1. During the qualifying session, the Turk finished in fifth place while the German concluded ninth. Then, in the first race, it was eighth for Oncu immediately ahead of his team-mate.
The track was wet for this morning’s warm-up, which meant the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders used the brief session to adapt their ZX-6R bikes to the altered track conditions. The rain then stopped and the track was almost completely dry by the time the race got underway. Oncu started from the second row and Oettl from the third. In the early stages, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing was lying fifth with Oncu and ninth with Oettl, both part of the leading group. Over the subsequent laps, the pair lost a little ground and then, mid-race, the Turkish rider lost contact with the leading group and slipped to eleventh, while his team-mate was ninth. In the final stages, both made up one position apiece, meaning Oettl crossed the line eighth and Oncu tenth.
In the championship standings, Oettl lies fourth with 132 points, while Oncu places tenth with 127.
The next round of the Supersport World Championship will take place over the weekend of 15-17 October at the San Juan Villicum circuit in Argentina.

“For me, we can forget this race because we struggled a lot, right from the start in fact. We just need to focus on the next round now. Some you win, and some you lost, and this is part of the job. This was our worst weekend to date, so it’s best we just forget this one. I am so thankful to the team for all they do though and am only sorry for the race result. They did a great job as always.”

“This morning we completed a good warm-up in the rain, finishing P4, so I was happy. In the race I was in the front group but then, over just one lap, I think I hit four wet spots and completely lost my rhythm and then lost the group. I was on the limit, and it was difficult to find a good way forward at this track. Today we could have been closer but in that one lap I threw the whole race away. I was up there, fighting, but I made too many mistakes.”

A punti su di una pista ostica

In Supersport i nostri piloti hanno centrato la top ten in entrambe le gare. Venivamo da una pole position e da un secondo posto conquistati a Jerez, e per questo speravamo in qualcosa in più, ma quella portoghese è da sempre una pista ostica per noi e per le nostre moto. Anche Tito Rabat, al debutto sulla nostra moto, è andato a punti in Superbike. Non deve essere stato certamente facile per lui entrare in una nuova squadra con una moto che non conosceva, nella fase finale di un campionato difficile come la Superbike e contro avversari che erano al loro terzo round consecutivo, e per questo molto affiatati con le rispettive moto. Ha senza dubbio bisogno di più tempo per conoscere meglio il team e la moto, ed è per questo che lo abbiamo confermato per i prossimi due round, e termineremo insieme la stagione 2021.

Primi punti per Rabat in gara1 WorldSBK a Portimao

Si sono disputate oggi all’Autodromo Internacional do Algarve di Portimao in Portogallo la Superpole e la prima gara valevoli per l’undicesimo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike. Nel Kawasaki Puccetti Racing Tito Rabat sostituisce l’infortunato Lucas Mahias sulla Ninja ZX-10RR. Lo spagnolo ieri era stato impegnato nelle prime due sessioni di prove libere, sfruttate per trovare un buon feeling con la moto e con la pista, ed aveva concluso al ventesimo posto, con il tempo di 1’44”352.
Questa mattina Rabat era tornato in pista per il terzo ed ultimo turno di libere nel quale ha ulteriormente migliorato il suo tempo sul giro (1’43”980) confermando la sua ventesima posizione.
Nell’undicesima Superpole stagionale, che ha preso il via in tarda mattinata, Tito ha non è riuscito a sfruttare la gomma da qualifica e con un giro in 1’44”000 ha chiuso ancora una volta al ventesimo posto. A seguito di questo risultato il pilota spagnolo prenderà il via dalla settima fila sia nella gara del pomeriggio che nella Superpole Race di domani mattina.
Gara1 ha preso il via nel primo pomeriggio. Rabat scattava bene al via ed andava ad occupare la quindicesima posizione. Nei giri successivi il suo ritmo calava leggermente e questo gli faceva perdere alcune posizioni. Nel finale però lo spagnolo risaliva la classifica sino a concludere al tredicesimo posto.

“La gara non è andata male. Ho visto dei miglioramenti rispetto alle prove ed alla Superpole, ma dobbiamo fare un ulteriore passo in avanti. Il lato più positivo è che all’inizio mi sono divertito ed ho tenuto un buon ritmo, ma per domani voglio fare decisamente meglio, anche perché mi sento molto motivato. Grazie al mio team che ha lavorato molto bene”.

Weekend positivo per Rabat, confermato sino a fine stagione

Pioggia e temperature basse questa mattina all’Autodromo Internacional do Algarve a Portimao in Portogallo, per l’ultima giornata dell’undicesimo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike, nel quale il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing schiera Tito Rabat in sostituzione dell’infortunato Lucas Mahias. Nella gara di ieri, al debutto con la Kawasaki ZX-10RR, lo spagnolo ha concluso al tredicesimo posto.
Nel warm up di questa mattina Tito ha lavorato assieme al suo team per cercare di adattare la sua Ninja alla pista bagnata, ed alle mutate condizioni atmosferiche.
La Superpole race ha preso il via in tarda mattinata, e così come ieri Rabat è partito dalla settima fila, in conseguenza del ventesimo posto ottenuto in Superpole. La pioggia ha smesso di cadere prima della gara, ma la pista si presentava completamente bagnata. Con una condotta prudente e senza commettere errori lo spagnolo ha tagliato il traguardo al quattordicesimo posto.
Per gara2 il tracciato portoghese era ormai completamente asciutto. Rabat ha preso il via dalla settima fila, in seguito alla sua posizione finale nella Superpole Race. La sua partenza è stata buona e gli ha permesso di recuperare qualche posizione. Purtroppo però nel corso del sesto giro Tito avvertiva un problema tecnico alla sua moto, ed era costretto al ritiro. Avrà occasione di rifarsi nei prossimi ed ultimi due round del WorldSBK, in quanto è stato confermato dal Kawasaki Puccetti Racing sino al termine della stagione.

“Prima di tutto voglio ringraziare il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing per questo weekend che ha rappresentato per me una bella esperienza. Venerdì non è stato facile, ma poi in gara mi sono trovato più a mio agio sulla mia nuova moto. Nella Superpole Race che si è corsa su pista bagnata non abbiamo fatto in tempo a trovare il miglior set up per la mia moto, ma hio finito la gara senza commettere errori. In gara2 stavo andando bene e mi sentivo bene sulla moto, ma purtroppo un problema tecnico mi ha costretto al ritiro. In generale sono contento di quanto abbiamo fatto in questo weekend e felice di poter disputare i prossimi due round ancora con il team di Manuel Puccetti.”

Oncu e Oettl in zona punti in gara1 WorldSSP a Portimao

Sole e temperature calde oggi all’Autodromo Internacional do Algarve di Portimao in Portogallo per la Superpole e la prima gara del decimo round del WorldSSP.
Ieri Can Oncu (1’44”954) e Philipp Oettl (1’44”956), i due piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, erano stati impegnati nelle due sessioni di prove libere che avevano concluso rispettivamente settimo ed ottavo posto, distanziati tra loro di due soli millesimi di secondo. Questa mattina entrambi sono tornati sulla tortuosa pista portoghese, per disputare la decima Superpole stagionale. Oncu ha migliorato il suo best lap di quasi un secondo (1’44”077) ed ha ottenuto il quinto posto. Anche Oettl ha abbassato il suo miglior crono (1’44”458) terminando al nono posto.
Di conseguenza nella gara del pomeriggio il pilota turco ha preso il via dalla seconda fila ed il pilota tedesco dalla terza. La partenza di Oncu era molto veloce e gli permetteva di andare ad occupare la seconda posizione. Nel proseguo della gara però il pilota turco perdeva lentamente contattato con il gruppo dei primi sino a concludere in ottava posizione. Oettl si è mantenuto per tutta la gara tra la nona e la decima posizione, chiudendo al nono posto, alle spalle del compagno di squadra.
Nella classifica del campionato Oettl è quarto con 224 punti. Oncu è invece decimo, con 121.

“Penso di aver fatto una buona partenza, ed i primi giri sono stati molto positive, ma non appena abbiamo iniziato ad avere problemi con l’aderenza delle gomme la gara si è fatta davvero difficile. Non c’è stato nulla che io abbia potuto fare per risolvere questo problema. Ho provato di tutto, ma non ho potuto fare meglio di così. Alla fine è andata così. Domani dobbiamo continuare a dare il massimo”.

“E’ stata una gara difficile quella odierna, una gara con un ritmo molto veloce ed io non lo sono stato abbastanza. Non mi sono sentito a disagio sulla moto, ma soltanto non sufficientemente veloce. Su questa pista sembra che qualche pilota abbia qualcosa in più, la stessa cosa che è successa a noi a Jerez e questo ha reso tutto più difficile. Al momento la sfida è quella di sfruttare tutto il potenziale della nostra moto. Per domani ho un idea di cosa dobbiamo cambiare per cercare di stare più vicini ai primi e per avere un feeling un poco migliore”.

A Portimao in gara2 Oettl e Oncu ancora in zona punti

Il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing ha disputato oggi all’Autodromo Internacional do Algarve di Portimao in Portogallo il decimo round del Campionato Mondiale Supersport.
Ieri Philipp Oettl e Can Oncu avevano disputato la Superpole e gara1. Nella sessione che ha deciso la griglia di partenza delle due gare portoghesi il pilota turco aveva ottenuto io quinto posto, mentre il tedesco aveva concluso in nona posizione. Nella prima gara del weekend ottavo posto per Oncu davanti al suo compagno di squadra.
Questa mattina per il warm up il tracciato di Portimao era bagnato dalla pioggia, ed i due piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing hanno sfruttato il turno per adattare le loro ZX-6R alle mutate condizioni della pista. In seguito la pioggia ha cessato di cadere e per la gara la pista era quasi completamente asciutta. Oncu è scattato dalla seconda fila e Oettl dalla terza. Dopo la partenza i due piloti Kawasaki Puccetti Racing mantenevano la quinta posizione Oncu e la nona Oettl, nel gruppo di testa. Nei giri successivi i due perdevano alcune posizioni e a metà gara il pilota turco perdeva il contatto con il gruppo di testa e scivolava all’undicesimo posto, mentre il suo compagno di squadra era nono. Nel finale entrambi recuperavano una posizione e quindi Oettl terminava la gara all’ottavo posto e Oncu al decimo.
In campionato Oettl occupa il quarto posto con 132 punti. Decima posizione per Oncu con 127.

“Per quanto mi riguarda questa è stata una gara da dimenticare perché abbiamo fatto tanta fatica sin dalla partenza. Ora dobbiamo solo concentrarci sul prossimo round. A volte si vince e a volte si perde, ma fa parte del gioco. Questo è stato probabilmente il nostro peggior weekend della stagione ed è per questo che dobbiamo mettercelo alle spalle. Voglio ringraziare tanto la mia squadra per tutto quello che hanno fatto e sono dispiaciuto per il risultato di questa gara odierna. Hanno fatto davvero un grande lavoro”.

“Questa mattina con la pioggia avevamo fatto un ottimo warm up, chiuso al quarto posto ed ero contento. In gara ero nel gruppo di testa ma poi penso di aver messo le gomme su un punto della pista ancora bagnato ed ho completamente perso il mio ritmo ed il contatto con il gruppo di testa. Ero al limite ed è stato difficile trovare il modo di recuperare su questa pista. Oggi avremmo forse potuto stare più avanti, ma in un solo giro ho buttato via l’intera gara. Ho poi continuato a lottare per tutta la gara, ma ho commesso molti errori”.
