Quarto round dei mondiali SBK e SS per il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing sul circuito TT Assen in Olanda

Non appena concluse le gare disputate al Motorland Aragon in Spagna, il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing ed il Turkish Puccetti Racing sono partiti alla volta dell’Olanda, e più precisamente verso il TT Circuit di Assen, posizionato nella provincia del Drenthe, a 180 Km a Nord della capitale Amsterdam, dove in questo fine settimana si disputerà il quarto round del campionato mondiale Supersport e del campionato mondiale Superbike.
Le prime gare motociclistiche si disputarono sul tracciato stradale nel 1925 (da cui la denominazione di TT in omaggio alla famosa corsa stradale che si corre all’isola di Man) e solo nel 1955 venne costruito l’autodromo, che viene denominato “la Cattedrale” ma anche “l’Università delle 2 ruote” in quanto sino al 2007 ospitò esclusivamente gare motociclistiche. Le prime importanti modifiche alla pista vennero apportate nel 1976 e nel 1984 il tracciato venne accorciato. L’ultima grande modifica è stata realizzata nel 2006 ed ha portato la lunghezza totale della pista agli attuali 4.542 km, con un totale di 18 curve: 12 a destra e 6 a sinistra.
Nell’ultimo round spagnolo i due piloti della Supersport: Lucas Mahias e Hikari Okubo, hanno ottenuto rispettivamente il settimo e l’ottavo posto in gara. Lo scorso anno sulla pista olandese il giapponese non concluse la gara a causa di una caduta, e anche per questo il TT di Assen non è certo la sua pista preferita. Di parere diverso il pilota francese, che qui può vantare un quarto e secondo posto ottenuti negli ultimi due anni.
Toprak Razgatlioglu torna da Alcaniz con due decimi posti ed uno sfortunato ritiro in gara2, dovuto ad un problema tecnico. Lo scorso anno ad Assen, nella stagione del suo debutto in Superbike, il giovane turco si aggiudicò la Superpole1 ed ebbe così accesso alla 2, mentre in gara centrò due volte la top ten, con un decimo ed un nono posto.

Lucas Mahias: “La pista di Assen è molto tecnica e anche per questo mi piace, anche se non ci ho ancora vinto. In questo weekend dovrò continuare ad impegnarmi per migliorare il mio feeling con la Ninja ZX-6R. Il nostro obiettivo è quello di fare meglio sia in prova che in gara rispetto a quanto abbiamo fatto in Spagna, per poter raccogliere i risultati che sia io che il mio team ci meritiamo”.

Hikari Okubo: “Quella di Assen è un tracciato che non mi piace molto, ma i nostri obiettivi sono sempre ambiziosi e quindi cercheremo di adattare in fretta la nostra moto al tracciato olandese, per ottenere i migliori risultati possibili. Le previsioni parlano di temperature basse e questo renderà le cose ancora più difficili, ma so di poter contare sull’aiuto del mio team e quindi sono fiducioso per questo fine settimana”.

Toprak Razgatlioglu: “Il TT Assen mi piace. La chiamano l’Università della moto proprio perché solo i migliori piloti riescono ad andare forte su questa pista. Ma più che la pista per noi sarà determinante trovare già al venerdì un buon assetto per la nostra Ninja ZX-10R in modo da poter poi disputare tre buone gare. Spero non faccia troppo freddo e soprattutto che non piova. Preferisco correre sull’asciutto”.

Fourth round of the SBK and SS championships for Kawasaki Puccetti Racing at the Assen TT circuit in Holland

With the racing having only just concluded at Motorland Aragon in Spain, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing and Turkish Puccetti Racing teams are already in Holland, at the TT circuit in Assen to be precise, in the Drenthe province, 180 Km north of capital Amsterdam, for this weekend’s fourth round of the Supersport and Superbike world championships.
The first motorcycle races took place at the street circuit in 1925 (it is from here that the TT takes its name, a tribue to the famous road race run on the Isle of Man) and it was only in 1955 that the circuit was built, nicknamed “the Cathedral” but also the “University of two wheels” as it hosted nothing other than motorcycle races until 2007. The first important changes to the track were made in 1976 before it was shortened in 1984. The last big change was made in 2006 and brought the overall track length to 4542 m, with a total of 18 turns, 12 right-handers and 6 left-handers.
During the last Spanish round, the two Supersport riders Lucas Mahias and Hikari Okubo scored seventh and eighth place respectively in the race. Last year, at the Dutch track, the Japanese failed to finish the race due to a crash, another reason why the Assen TT track is not his favourite. The Frenchman is of a different opinion, having scored a fourth and second-place finish at the track in the last two years.
Toprak Razgatlioglu returns from Alcaniz following two tenth-place finishes and an unfortunate DNF in race 2, owing to a technical problem. Last year at Assen, in his debut Superbike season, the young Turk got through Superpole 1 to reach session 2, before scoring two top ten race results, with a tenth and a ninth-place finish.

Lucas Mahias: “The Assen track is very technical and I like it for this reason too, though I’ve never won here. This weekend, I need to continue to work to improve my feeling with the Ninja ZX-6R. Our aim is to do better in both practice and the race compared to how we did in Spain, to be able to score the kind of results that me and my team deserve”.

Hikari Okubo: “I don’t particularly like the Assen track, but our goals remain ambitious and so we will try to adapt our bike quickly to the Dutch track, to score the best possible results. The forecast gives low temperatures and this will make things even more difficult, but I know I can count on my team’s support and so I’m confident ahead of the weekend.”

Toprak Razgatlioglu: “I like the TT. The call it the university of motorcycling because only the best riders are able to be fast at this track. But rather than the track, it will be important for us to find a good set-up for our Ninja ZX-10R right from Friday, so we can run three good races. I hope it’s not too cold and mainly that it doesn’t rain. I’d prefer to race in the dry”.
