Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Due gare WorldSBK sfortunate per Fores a Phillip Island
Cielo soleggiato e temperature miti oggi a Phillip Island per le due ultime gare del primo round del campionato mondiale Superbike. Xavi Fores, il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, ieri avevo concluso anticipatamente la prima gara della stagione a causa di una caduta, risoltasi per fortuna senza conseguenze fisiche per il pilota spagnolo. Questa mattina Xavi è sceso in pista per il warm up, in preparazione alle gare odierne.
La Tissot Superpole Race, che si è corsa come sempre sulla distanza di 10 giri. Fores è stato autore di una buona partenza, ma nei pochi giri a disposizione non ha trovato il giusto feeling con la sua Ninja. Inoltre a causa di un contatto con un altro pilota nel corso del sesto giro, lo spagnolo del team Kawasaki Puccetti Racing ha perso molte posizioni terminando la gara in dodicesima posizione.
La terza ed ultima gara di questo round australiano si è disputata nel pomeriggio. Nei primi giri Xavi transitava in ottava posizione, nel gruppo in testa alla gara. Purtroppo anche in questa gara la fortuna ha girato le spalle al pilota spagnolo, che per evitare un avversario che si era quasi fermato proprio davanti a lui ha dovuto uscire di pista. Nella lunga escursione sulla sabbia ad una velocità molto elevata, Fores è riuscito a non cadere ma è rientrato in pista in ultima posizione, per poi tagliare il traguardo all’undicesimo posto.
Il prossimo appuntamento con il campionato mondiale Superbike è previsto nel weekend del 13-15 marzo sulla pista di Losail in Qatar.

Xavi Fores: “E’ stato un weekend sfortunato. Nella Superpole race abbiamo provato qualcosa di diverso rispetto a ieri, ma purtroppo le modifiche apportate non si sono rivelate valide ed ho fatto fatica a guidare come volevo. In gara2 invece abbiamo fatto una modifica alla forcella che mi ha aiutato a guidare in modo più sciolto. Mi sentivo a mio agio sulla Ninja, ma purtroppo nel quinto giro un pilota che mi precedeva ha avuto un problema tecnico, e si è quasi fermato davanti a me. Per evitarlo ho dovuto uscire di pista e sono rientrato in ultima posizione. Sono stato fortunato a non colpirlo e a non cadere nella sabbia della via di fuga, in quanto in quel punto la velocità è molto elevata. La parte positiva di questo weekend è che abbiamo lavorato molto ed abbiamo trovato un assetto che mi consente di andare forte. Per questo sono sicuro che in Qatar riusciremo a fare bene. Grazie alla mia squadra per il grande aiuto che mi ha dato”.
Manuel Puccetti: “Storicamente quella australiana non è una pista a noi favorevole e anche quest’anno non abbiamo raccolto il frutto del grande lavoro svolto dai nostri tecnici e dai nostri piloti. Sono certo che in Qatar andrà decisamente meglio e faremo un grande passo in avanti”.

Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Two unlucky WorldSBK races for Forés at Phillip Island
There were sunny skies and warm temperatures at Phillip Island, Australia for the final two races of the Superbike world championship’s opening round. Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Xavi Forés failed to finish yesterday’s first race of the season due to a crash, though fortunately the Spaniard was unhurt in the incident. This morning saw Xavi head out on track for warm-up, in preparation for the day’s racing.
In the ten-lap Tissot Superpole Race, Forés made a good start but was unable to find the right feeling with his Ninja in the short time available to him. In addition, contact with another rider during the course of lap six saw the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider lose many positions, meaning he crossed the line in twelfth position.
The third and final race of the Australian round took place this afternoon. Xavi was lying eighth through the opening stages, part of the leading group. Unfortunately luck was not on the Spaniard’s side in this race either, the rider forced to run off track to avoid a rival who almost came to a stop in front of him. Forés ran into the sand at high speed and although he did not crash, he returned to the track in last position, before eventually crossing the line eleventh.
The next round of the Superbike world championship will take place over the weekend of 13-15 March at the Losail circuit in Qatar.

Xavi Forés: “An unlucky weekend for us. In the Superpole race, we tried something different compared to yesterday, but unfortunately the modifications didn’t pay off and I struggled to ride as I wanted to. In race 2, we made a change to the fork and that helped me ride more smoothly. I felt comfortable on the Ninja, but unfortunately, on lap five, a rider ahead of me had a technical problem and almost came to a stop in front of me. To avoid him, I had to run off track and rejoined the race in last position. I was lucky not to hit him or crash in the run-off area, as that point is very fast. The positive side to this weekend is that we’ve worked hard and found a set-up that allows me to ride fast. This is why I’m confident that we’ll be able to do well in Qatar. Thanks to my team for all their help here”.
Manuel Puccetti: “Historically, the Australian track is not a good one for us and once again this year we struggled to see the fruit of our team and rider’s hard work. I’m sure that things will go a lot better in Qatar and that we’ll take a big step forward”.
