“E’ stato un ottimo weekend per Lucas, che è rimasto costantemente nella top ten, conquistando il settimo posto nella Superpole race che rappresenta sino ad ora il suo miglior risultato. Sta proseguendo nella sua costante crescita e anche qui a Donington ha concluso davanti a numerosi piloti ufficiali, raccogliendo il maggior numero di punti dall’inizio della stagione, che non dobbiamo dimenticare è la sua prima completa in Superbike. Nona posizione per Mahias in gara1 WorldSBK a Donington

Giornata inizialmente piovosa quella odierna a Donington Park, nel quarto round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike. In Inghilterra si disputano solo le gare della classe maggiore, mentre la Supersport tornerà in pista ad Assen a fine luglio.
Ieri, con la pista asciutta, il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing Lucas Mahias, era stato autore di due ottime sessioni di prove libere, concluse con il nono tempo assoluto. Questa mattina il pilota francese è tornato sul tortuoso e tecnico tracciato inglese per il terzo ed ultimo turno di libere. Sulla pista bagnata dalla pioggia Lucas ha fatto segnare il tempo di 1’47”324 ed ha concluso al tredicesimo posto del turno, mantenendo la nona posizione nella classifica cumulativa delle tre sessioni, grazie al crono stabilito ieri.
La Superpole si è disputata ancora su pista bagnata e Lucas ha confermato di trovarsi bene anche in queste condizioni non certo facili da affrontare. Con un giro in 1’42”658 il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing ha ottenuto il decimo posto ed ha quindi preso il via dalla quarta fila, nella gara che si è disputata nel pomeriggio sulla distanza di 23 giri.
La pioggia ha smesso di cadere dopo la Superpole, e per la gara la pista era solo parzialmente umida, tanto che tutti i piloti hanno deciso di utilizzare gomme slick. Mahias scattava bene al via e pur senza forzare il ritmo per non incorrere in un errore, manteneva inizialmente il decimo posto, Nei giri successivi risaliva in ottava posizione per poi stabilizzarsi al nono posto sino sotto la bandiera a scacchi, andando a conquistare quello che a tutt’oggi è il suo miglior risultato stagionale, e che assume un significato particolare, in quanto è stato ottenuto in condizioni molto difficili.
Nella classifica del campionato Mahias ora è tredicesimo con 29 punti.
Domani il pilota francese disputerà la Superpole race e a seguire la seconda ed ultima gara del round SBK di Donington.

“Sono molto contento dei risultati ottenuti oggi. La giornata è incominciata con una sessione sotto la pioggia. E’ stata la prima volta che ho corso con questa moto sul bagnato e mi è servito per comprendere il comportamento della mia moto in queste difficili condizioni. In Superpole ho cercato di spingere subito molto forte ed ho ottenuto il decimo posto. La gara è stata molto difficile perché la pista non era completamente asciutta. Inizialmente ho mantenuto un buon ritmo, ma poi quando la pista ha iniziato ad asciugarsi la moto è diventata difficile da guidare, ma sono comunque riuscito a portare a casa il nono posto. Ora dobbiamo valutare i dati raccolti oggi, per essere ancora più veloci nelle gare di domani, sperando che il meteo sia buono”.

Un weekend molto positivo per Mahias a Donington Park

Con la disputa della Superpole Race e di gara2 si è concluso oggi sul circuito di Donington Park il quarto round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike.
Ieri Lucas Mahias, il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing aveva ottenuto il decimo tempo in Superpole ed era quindi scattato dalla quarta fila nella prima gara di questo weekend. Nonostante le difficili condizioni della pista, non completamente asciutta, il pilota francese ha ottenuto un ottimo nono posto.
Oggi Lucas è tornato in pista per disputare la Superpole Race che si corre sulla distanza di dieci giri. Uno scroscio di pioggia riversatosi sulla pista inglese prima della partenza, ha bagnato la pista ed i piloti hanno utilizzato gomme intermedie. Mahias è scattato velocissimo la via portandosi in settima posizione e grazie ad un ritmo di gara molto sostenuto lo ha mantenuto sino alla bandiera a scacchi andando così a conquistare il suo miglior risultato da quando corre in Superbike.
Gara2 ha preso il via nel pomeriggio sulla distanza di 23 giri. A seguito del risultato ottenuto nella Superpole Race, Mahias è scattato dalla settima casella della griglia, in terza fila. Lucas è scattato molto bene allo spegnersi del semaforo, transitando nei primi dieci giri tra La settima e l’ottava posizione. Da metà gara circa in poi Mahias perdeva alcune posizioni terminando comunque la gara al dodicesimo posto e raccogliendo altri punti per la classifica del campionato, che lo vede ora al quattordicesimo posto con 36 punti.
Il prossimo appuntamento del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing con il Campionato Mondiale Superbike è fissato per il weekend del 23, 24 e 25 luglio sul circuito di Assen in Olanda.

“Quello di Donington non è stato un round semplice, soprattutto a causa delle mutevoli condizioni della pista. I miei risultati però sono stati i migliori che io abbia ottenuto sino ad ora, e questo mi fa molto piacere perché dimostra che stiamo lavorando nella direzione giusta. Ninth for Mahias in WorldSBK race 1 at Donington

Today’s action at Donington Park got off to a wet start as the fourth Superbike World Championship round continues at the English track. Only the Superbike category is competing this weekend, while Supersport will return at Assen later this month.
Yesterday, on a dry track, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Lucas Mahias put in a strong performance during the two free practices, finishing ninth overall. This morning the Frenchman was back out on the technical track for the final practice. In wet conditions, Lucas set a time of 1’47”324 and rounded out the session thirteenth but retained ninth position overall in the combined standings.
The Superpole also played out on a wet track and Lucas once again got on well despite the less than ideal conditions. With a best time of 1’42”658, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider finished tenth and therefore lined up on the fourth row of the grid for the afternoon’s 23-lap race.
The rain stopped after the Superpole, meaning the track was only partially damp for the race, with all riders therefore opting for slick tyres. Mahias made a good start and although he didn’t force his pace, wanting to avoid any errors, he nevertheless held tenth place through the early stages. He then moved up to eighth before crossing the line in eventual ninth place to score his best result of the season so far. Today’s result is particularly significant, as it was achieved in very difficult conditions.
Mahias now lies thirteenth in the championship standings with 29 points.
Tomorrow will see the Frenchman compete in the Superpole race following by the second and final SBK race at Donington.

“I’m really pleased with today’s results. The day started with a wet session. This was the first time I was riding this bike in the rain and so it was useful in helping me to understand the bike’s behaviour in those tricky conditions. In Superpole I tried to push hard right aware and scored tenth place. The race was very difficult because the track wasn’t fully dry. I maintained a good rhythm early on but when the track started to try the bike became difficult to ride. I was nevertheless able to finish ninth. Now we need to look at the data collected today, to be even quicker during tomorrow’s races, in the hope the weather is good.”

A very positive weekend for Mahias at Donington Park

The fourth round of the Superbike World Championship concluded with today’s Superpole Race and second Superbike race at Donington Park in the UK.
Yesterday, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Lucas Mahias finished tenth in Superpole which meant he lined up on the fourth row of the grid for the weekend’s first race. Despite the difficult track conditions, not fully dry, the Frenchman scored a strong ninth-place finish.
Today Lucas was back out for the ten-lap Superpole Race. Some light rainfall just prior to the start made for a damp track, meaning that most riders opted for intermediate tyres. Mahias made a very fast start, moving up into seventh place, a consistent race pace allowing him to maintain this position all the way to the line and score his best Superbike result to date.
Race 2 got underway in the afternoon and ran over a distance of 23 laps. Mahias’ result in the earlier race meant that he lined up in seventh place on the grid, on the third row. Lucas again got away well when the lights went out, oscillating between seventh and eighth place over the first ten laps. From mid-race on, Mahias began to lose positions but nevertheless finished the race in twelfth place, scoring further championship points. The Frenchman now lies fourteenth in the general standings with 36 points.
Kawasaki Puccetti Racing will be back for the next round of the Superbike World Championship, taking place at the Assen circuit in The Netherlands on 23-25 July.

“The Donington round hasn’t been an easy one, particularly with the changeable track conditions. But my results have been the best I’ve achieved so far, and I’m very pleased about that because it proves our work is taking us in the right direction. In the Superpole race, I started strong and was able to be consistently quick, closing seventh. Race 2 was more difficult because from around the middle of the race I suffered a drop in tyre grip, but I was still able to score points.
