“La stagione che si è appena conclusa è stata davvero eccezionale per tutti noi del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, con molti podi e vittorie nel mondiale Supersport, con la vittoria del campionato Squadre del Mondiale Supersport e con il secondo e terzo posto nel Campionato piloti Supersport. Tutti componenti della nostra squadra hanno svolto un lavoro eccezionale, di grande spessore. Quest’anno non era possibile vincere il mondiale piloti Supersport, ma abbiamo vinto il Campionato Squadre e questa è per me una grande soddisfazione. Ora ci godiamo un meritato risposo perché quest’anno è stato davvero difficile organizzare tutta la nostra attività, soprattutto a causa della situazione causata dal Covid-19. Un enorme grazie va a tutti i nostri sponsor, alla Kawasaki Europa e a tutti quelli che hanno contribuito ad un’altra fantastica stagione conclusa ai massimi livelli della Supersport. In Superbike non abbiamo vissuto una stagione semplice. Probabilmente se fosse stato un anno “normale” avremmo ottenuto dei risultati migliori. Solo nel finale di stagione Fores si è classificato stabilmente nella top ten, e questo ci fa pensare che probabilmente, con più tempo a disposizione, avrebbe potuto ottenere i risultati che ci aspettavamo da lui, dalla nostra moto e dalla nostra squadra. L’appuntamento con i nostri sponsor e con i nostri supporter è fissato a breve in pista, nei prossimi test invernali con i nostri piloti 2021”.

Mahias vince gara2 WorldSS all’Estoril! Oettl è quinto in volata.
La gara che si è disputata oggi all’autodromo dell’Estoril in Portogallo ha concluso il Campionato Mondiale Supersport 2020.
Ieri i due piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, Lucas Mahias e Philipp Oettl avevano disputato la Superpole, conquistando rispettivamente la seconda e la terza posizione. In base a questi risultati sono scattati dalla prima fila in una gara che ha purtroppo visto la caduta di Mahias alla seconda curva a causa di un contatto con un altro pilota, mentre Oettl ha conquistato il suo miglior risultato stagionale, salendo sul secondo gradino del podio. Oggi in una giornata soleggiata e fresca i due alfieri del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing hanno disputato la seconda gara del weekend, l’ultima del campionato WorldSS. Così come ieri entrambi hanno preso il via dalla prima fila. Mahias è scattato velocissimo al via e si è portato in testa seguito da Oettl in seconda posizione. All’inizio del quinto giro era Oettl a portarsi in testa seguito dal suo compagno di squadra. Nei giri successivi i due alfieri del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing si scambiavano spesso le posizioni, in testa al gruppo dei primi, composto da dieci piloti, tutti molto vicini tra loro. Si arrivava così agli ultimi giri. Mahias si portava al comando e spingeva al massimo nel tentativo di staccare i suoi avversari, mentre Oettl lo seguiva in terza posizione. Il suo tentativo non andava a buon fine e si arrivava così al giro finale. Mahias forzava al massimo il suo ritmo e accumulava un vantaggio che gli consentiva di tagliare per primo il traguardo. Oettl invece restava invischiato nel gruppo e concludeva al quinto posto a pochi millesimi dal podio. Seconda vittoria stagionale per Mahias che pota a otto i suoi podi del 2020. Nella classifica generale il pilota francese chiude al secondo posto con 229 punti. Grazie alla sua quinta posizione nella gara odierna Oettl conquista il terzo posto finale con 162 punti.

“E’ stata una grande emozione per me vincere la mia ultima gara nel mondiale Supersport. Amo questa categoria e vincere l’ultima gara della stagione è stato bellissimo. E’ stata la stessa soddisfazione che ho provato vincendo il titolo di Campione del mondo Supersport alcuni anni fa. Avevo già vinto una gara a Magny Cours, ma sul bagnato. Vincere sulla pista asciutta, su di un circuito con un lungo rettilineo e dopo aver lottato a lungo, sono davvero felice. Penso sia stata la miglior gara della stagione e ora sono pronto per una nuova avvincente sfida”.

Una buona gara, ma purtroppo nell’ultimo giro ho commesso qualche errore di troppo, considerando che il nostro obiettivo era di finire sul podio o di vincere la gara. Non è stato possibile ed ero preoccupato perché non sapevo se con il quinto posto avrei comunque ottenuto la terza posizione in campionato. Sono rientrato più velocemente del solito al mio box, ed ho saputo che il mio piazzamento era stato sufficiente per il terzo posto in campionato. Un quinto posto dopo una gara così bella non era quello che avrei voluto ottenere, ma sono comunque felice. La squadra ha fatto un lavoro incredibile per tutto l’anno e sono molto contento di essere terzo nella classifica del campionato”.

Oettl sul secondo gradino del podio all’Estoril. Una caduta ferma Mahias
Si è disputata oggi all’Autodromo dell’Estoril, alle porte di Lisbona in Portogallo, la quattordicesima gara del Campionato Mondiale Supersport.
Ieri i due piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, Lucas Mahias e Philipp Oettl avevano concluso le prime due sessioni di prove libere rispettivamente al terzo ed al nono posto. Questa mattina hanno disputato il terzo ed ultimo turno di libere nel quale Oettl è riuscito a migliorare il suo tempo sul giro di oltre un secondo (1’40”230) e si è portato in testa alla classifica cumulativa delle tre sessioni. Mahias (1’40”961) non ha fatto meglio di ieri ed ha terminato in settima posizione.
La Superpole ha con fermato la competitività dei due alfieri del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing che hanno conquistato la prima fila sulla griglia di partenza delle due gare di questo ultimo round. Mahias (1’39”666) ha chiuso al secondo posto, davanti a Oettl (1’39”829).
La gara ha preso il via alle 15,15 ora locale, ma nel corso del quarto giro è stata sospesa con la bandiera rossa a causa di una caduta con una moto che era rimasta in pista.
Dopo una ventina di minuti veniva data la seconda partenza. Entrambi i piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing scattavano bene allo spegnersi del semaforo, ma purtroppo alla seconda curva Mahias veniva a contatto con un altro pilota e cadeva. Nessuna conseguenza fisica per lui, ma la sua gara si concludeva li. Oettl era terzo nei primi giri, ma in seguito, con un passo di gara molto veloce, si portava al secondo posto. Il pilota tedesco cercava di recuperare il gap che si era formato con il primo, ma la gara era ormai alla sua conclusione e Philipp conquistava un’ottima seconda posizione che rappresenta il suo miglior risultato stagionale ed il quarto podio nel campionato Supersport.
Nella classifica generale del campionato Mahias è ormai matematicamente in seconda posizione, mentre Oettl è quarto ma a soli due punti dal terzo.
Domani, ancora all’autodromo dell’Estoril, Mahias e Oettl disputeranno la seconda gara WorldSS, che concluderà il Campionato Mondiale Supersport 2020.

“E’ stata una gara molto breve la mia. Nella seconda curva in una gara di 12 giri, De Rosa ha provato a superarmi all’esterno e se non sei Johnny Rea non puoi sorpassare in quel punto. Ha perso aderenza all’anteriore e mi ha spinto fuori pista. Ho provato a riprendere la moto ma ho avuto paura di rompermi una gamba perché la moto stava saltando sulla pista. La carena si era rotta ed era incastrata sotto la ruota e quindi non ho potuto riprendere la corsa. Per fortuna domani c’è un’altra gara”.

All’inizio c’è stata una gran cofusione quando ho visto cadere De Rosa e Mahias. Dopo di ché ho visto Soomer davanti a me ed ho avuto bisogno di qualche minuto per ritrovare la concentrazione e quindi incrementare il mio ritmo. E’ stata una buona gara ma non sono riuscito a riprendere Locatelli. La moto andava bene ma il mio feeling è stato completamente diverso anche rispetto alla Superpole di questa mattina, e spesso l’anteriore tendeva a chiudere. Negli ultimi due giri ho cercato soprattutto di difendere la seconda posizione in quanto non sapevo chi mi stesse seguendo e ci sono riuscito. Abbiamo raccolto molti punti per me e per la classifica del campionato e questa è una cosa importante. Ora solo due punti mi separano da Cluzel e dal terzo posto”.
Fores chiude all’ottavo posto l’ultima gara della stagione 2020
Si è disputata oggi all’Autodromo dell’Estoril in Portogallo l’ultima giornata di gare valida per l’ottavo ed ultimo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike.
Ieri Xavi Fores, il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing aveva ottenuto la nona posizione nella Superpole, mentre in gara1 aveva concluso all’ottavo posto, dopo una gara in gran parte condotta nel gruppo che era in lotta per la quinta posizione.
Oggi, in una fresca giornata di sole, il pilota spagnolo è sceso nuovamente in pista per disputare la Superpole Race che si è disputata come sempre sulla distanza di 10 giri.
In seguito al suo piazzamento nella Superpole, anche oggi Xavi ha preso il via dalla terza fila. La sua partenza è stata veloce e nei primi giri Xavi si è portato al nono posto. In seguito, nei pochi giri a disposizione, non è riuscito a trovare un ritmo sufficientemente veloce da poter risalire la classifica e proprio all’ultimo giro Fores perdeva una posizione concludendo al decimo posto.
La seconda ed ultima gara di questo weekend e del WorldSBK 2020 si è disputata nel pomeriggio. Avendo concluso al decimo posto nella gara sprint, il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing è partito dalla quarta fila.
Undicesimo nei primi giri, in seguito Fores iniziava a risalire la classifica sino a trovarsi a battagliare nel gruppo in lotta per il sesto posto, per poi chiudere in ottava posizione. Anche grazie ai punti conquistati dal pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing la Kawasaki si è aggiudicata il titolo costruttori 2020.

“Sono contento delle mie due gare di oggi, ma lo sono anche per l’ottimo lavoro che abbiamo fatto con la squadra. Nel weekend abbiamo apportato solo leggere modifiche alla nostra Ninja perché abbiamo trovato subito un buon assetto. Purtroppo anche su questa pista ho pagato la mancanza di potenza della nostra moto rispetto a quelle dei miei avversari ed in rettilineo perdevo tutto quello che accumulavo nella parte guidata. Mi spiace lasciare il team Puccetti e la Superbike. Penso di essere un pilota che può restare costantemente nelle posizioni di vertice, ma il mondo delle corse è fatto così. Mi ha fatto piacere aver contribuito alla vittoria del campionato costruttori per la Kawasaki, che ringrazio assieme a Manuel Puccetti e tutta la sua squadra, alla quale auguro di conquistare in futuro i migliori risultati. Se li meritano”.
Ottavo posto per Fores in gara1 all’Estoril
Seconda giornata di prove e di gare oggi all’Autodromo dell’Estoril in Portogallo, dove il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing sta disputando l’ottavo ed ultimo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike. Nelle due sessioni di prove libere disputate ieri Xavi Fores aveva concluso al quattordicesimo posto, ed aveva lavorato con il proprio team al set up della sua Ninja, per adattarla al tracciato portoghese.
Questa mattina, in una giornata di sole, il pilota spagnolo ha disputato la terza ed ultima sessione di prove libere, confermando il quattordicesimo posto con il tempo di 1’38”272.
In tarda mattinata si è invece disputata l’ultima Superpole stagionale. Dopo pochi minuti dall’inizio a causa di una triplice caduta, veniva esposta la bandiera rossa e la sessione veniva sospesa per una decina di minuti. Alla ripresa del turno Fores fermava i cronometri sul tempo di 1’37”129, migliorando il suo miglior crono delle libere e conquistando la nona posizione, che ha significato una partenza dalla terza fila, nella che si è disputata nel pomeriggio sulla distanza di 21 giri.
Dopo una buona partenza il pilota spagnolo transitava attorno all’a decima posizione, nel gruppo degli inseguitori, composto da sette piloti ed in lotta per la quinta posizione. Fores trovava un buon ritmo e lottava nel gruppo sino alla fine, tagliando il traguardo all’ottavo posto e replicando così per la terza volta il suo miglior risultato stagionale.
Nella giornata di domani Fores disputerà la Superpole Race e gara2, che concluderà il campionato Mondiale Superbike 2020.

“Quella di oggi è stata una buona gara. Abbiamo fatto un buon lavoro sia in prova che in Superpole, e siamo partiti più avanti del solito. Questo mi ha aiutato a non perdere il contatto con il gruppo. Nei primi giri mi sentivo a mio agio con la moto, ed ho effettuato molti sorpassi. Purtroppo nei giri successivi ho avuto un problema ai freni che mi ha rallentato. In seguito la situazione è migliorata e sono riuscito a guidare nonostante il problema. Ho terminato all’ottavo posto, non lontano dal quinto. Stiamo confermando i progressi che si erano già evidenziati a Barcellona e che poi non abbiamo potuto ripetere a Magny Cours a causa della pioggia. Per domani sono fiducioso di poter ottenere dei buoni risultati e voglio ringraziare tutta la mia squadra che ha svolto un ottimo lavoro”.

“This season has been a truly exceptional one for the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team, with many podiums and wins in the Supersport championship, as well as the overall team win, and second and third place for the riders in the general standings. Every member of our team has done a great job. We weren’t able to win the Supersport rider’s title, but we have won the team title and that’s a very satisfying result for us. We will now enjoy a well-deserved rest because it’s been a difficult year in terms of arranging everything, particularly with the Covid-19 pandemic. A big thanks to all our sponsors, Kawasaki Europe and everyone who has contributed to another fantastic season of top-level Supersport racing. In Superbike we didn’t have an easy season. If it had been a ‘normal’ year, we would probably have scored better results. Only towards the end did Forés become a regular fixture in the top ten, and this leaves us thinking that with more time, we could have achieved the kind of results we expected of him, the bike and our team. We will soon be back on track with our sponsors and supporters, ready to prepare for the 2021 season during winter testing.”

Mahias wins WorldSS at Estoril! Oettl races to fifth
The 2020 Supersport world championship has drawn to a close with today’s race at the Estoril circuit in Portugal.
Yesterday, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders Lucas Mahias and Philipp Oettl took part in the Superpole, finishing in second and third place respectively. Based on these results, they started race one from the front row, but Mahias unfortunately suffered a fall at turn 2 when he came into contact with another rider, while Oettl scored his best result of the season, taking second place on the podium.
Today, in cool but sunny conditions, the two Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders took part in the second race of the weekend, the very last race of the WorldSS season. Like yesterday, both lined up on row one of the grid. Mahias got away very fast and immediately took the lead, followed by Oettl in second position. At the start of lap five, Oettl moved into the lead just ahead of his team-mate. Over the subsequent laps, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders continued to exchange places as part of the leading group, which comprised ten riders, all very close together. In the final stages, Mahias once again took the lead and pushed hard in an attempt to break away from his adversaries. Oettl followed in third position. On the very last lap, the Frenchman was able to build a small advantage that saw him cross the line in first place. Oettl meanwhile got a little boxed in within the group and closed in fifth place, a fraction of a second from the podium.
With this second win of the season, Mahias takes his 2020 podium tally to eight. In the general standings, the French rider therefore closes second overall with 229 points. Thanks to his fifth-place finish today, Oettl concludes the season in third place with 162 points.

“It is a big emotion for me to win my last race in WorldSSP. I love this category and winning the final race is very good. It was a little bit like the same feeling when I won the championship a few years ago. I won a race in Magny Cours, but in the rain. To win in dry conditions, on a track with a long straight and after a lot of fighting, I am really happy. I think it was the best race of the year and now I am ready for the next challenge.”

“A good race but on the last lap I made too many mistakes, as the plan was to finish on the podium, or even win the race. OK, it was not possible and I was a little bit concerned because I did not know if finishing in P5 was enough to secure P3 in the championship. I was faster than normal on the in-lap to the pit box to find out! But it was enough. OK, P5 after such a good race was not what I was looking for, but I am still happy. The team did an amazing job all year long and I am really pleased to be third overall.”

Oettl on the second step of the podium at Estoril. A crash stops Mahias
The fourteenth race of the 2020 Supersport world championship season took place today at the Estoril circuit in Portugal.
Yesterday, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders Lucas Mahias and Philipp Oettl closed the first two practice sessions in third and ninth place respectively. This morning they completed the third practice, during which Oettl was able to improve on his lap time by over a second (1’40”230) to place first overall in the combined standings. Mahias (1’40”961) was unable to improve on yesterday’s performance, finishing seventh.
The Superpole confirmed the competitiveness of the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders who both earned a place on the front of the grid for the final races of the season. Mahias (1’39”666) finished in second place, followed by Oettl (1’39”829).
The race got underway at 3.15pm local time but on lap four it was brought to a stop with the red flag after a crash, the bike left on track.
The race was restarted twenty minutes later. Both Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders got away well when the lights went out, but at turn two, Mahias came into contact with another rider and crashed. He was unhurt, but his race ended there. Oettl was lying third through the opening laps, but a strong pace soon saw him move up into second. The German rider tried to close the gap that had opened up between him and the leader but the race was as good as over and Philipp therefore crossed the line in second place, his best result of the season so far and his fourth podium in the Supersport championship.
In the general standings, Mahias has now mathematically confirmed second place, while Oettl is fourth but just two points from third.
Tomorrow, Mahias e Oettl will return to the Estoril track for the final WorldSS race of this 2020 Supersport world championship.

“A short race for me today. In the second corner of a 12-lap race De Rosa tried to overtake me and if you are not Johnny Rea it is not possible to overtake there. He lost the front and then pushed me to the exit of the track. I tried to save it but I was worried to break my leg because the bike jumped a lot. The fairing was under the wheel and it was impossible to carry on. Tomorrow we have another race.”

“There was big confusion because I saw De Rosa and Mahias going down. I saw Soomer in front of me and I needed some time to clear the head and then go-go-go. It was a good race but I couldn’t catch up to Locatelli. The bike was OK but the feeling on the track was completely different, even compared with the Superpole session and I was closing the front at times. The last two laps I tried to defend a little bit as I had not looked behind and we finished P2. We got a lot of points for us and for the championship, which is really important. Now it is only two points to Cluzel for third.”
Forés eighth in the final race of the 2020 season
The final races of the eighth and final round of the Superbike world championship have now played out at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal.
Yesterday, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Xavi Forés scored ninth place in the Superpole, while race 1 saw him finish in eighth place, after he spent a good part of the race battling it out for fifth with a group of riders.
Today, in cool but sunny conditions, the Spaniard was back out for the Superpole race, which ran as ever over a distance of ten laps.
Thanks to his Superpole qualifying results, Xavi once again lined up on row three of the grid. He made a fast start and moved into ninth place through the opening laps. In the few laps available, he was unable to maintain a rhythm that would allow him to climb any further up the field and he ultimately crossed the line in tenth place.
The second and final race of the weekend and the 2020 WorldSBK season took place this afternoon. Having finished the sprint race in tenth place, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider started from row four. Eleventh through the first laps, Forés began to make up places, soon finding himself fighting with a group of riders for sixth place. He eventually completed the race in eighth position. Thanks also to the points scored by the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider today, Kawasaki has won the 2020 constructor’s title.

“I’m pleased with my two races today, and also for the work my team and I have done this weekend. We only made small changes to our Ninja throughout the weekend because we immediately identified a good set-up. Unfortunately, I once again suffered from a lack of power compared to my rivals, losing anything I gained through the corners down the straight. Eighth place for Fores in race 1 at Estoril
The Estoril circuit in Portugal is hosting the eighth and final round of the Superbike world championship, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing having completed today’s Superpole and Race 1. In yesterday’s free practice sessions, rider Xavi Forés concluded in fourteenth place, having worked with his team to set-up his Ninja and adapt it to the Portuguese track.
This morning, in sunny conditions, the Spanish rider completed the third and final practice, confirming fourteenth place with a time of 1’38”272.
In the late morning it was time for the final Superpole of the season. A triple crash early on in the session saw the session red-flagged and halted for ten minutes. On returning to the track, Forés stopped the clock on 1’37”129, improving on his best practice time and finishing ninth, meaning a third row start for the afternoon’s 21-lap race. Having made a good start, the Spanish rider was lying in around tenth place, part of the chasing group that comprised seven riders, battling it out for fifth. Forés found a good rhythm and fought all the way to the line, concluding in eighth place to match his best result of the season for the third time.
Tomorrow will see Forés compete in the Superpole Race and Race 2, the final event of the 2020 Superbike World Championship.

“Today’s race was a good one. We worked hard in practice and Superpole and started the race further forward than usual. This helped me to keep contact with the group. Through the first laps, I felt comfortable on the bike and was able to make several passes. Over the subsequent laps I had a brake problem that slowed me down but then the situation improved and I was able to ride despite the issue. I finished eighth, not far from fifth. We are confirming the progress that we already saw at Barcelona but that we were unable to replicate at Magny Cours due to the rain. I’m confident that tomorrow we can obtain good results, and I want to thank my team for their great work so far.”
