Razgatlioglu sale sul podio a San Juan in gara1 ed è campione degli Independent Riders 2019!
Seconda giornata di prove e di gare per il Turkish Puccetti Racing a San Juan Villicum in Argentina, nel dodicesimo round del campionato mondiale Superbike.
Ieri le condizioni della pista, sporca di sabbia, avevano condizionato le prime due sessioni di prove libere nelle quali Toprak Razgatlioglu aveva ottenuto il sesto posto finale.
Questa mattina il giovane pilota turco è tornato in pista per disputare il terzo ed ultimo turno di prove libere. La pista è risultata più pulita e quindi meno scivolosa e questo ha permesso a Toprak di migliorare il suo best lap di ieri di cinque secondi e con un giro in 1’39”561 ha conquistato la prima posizione nella classifica cumulativa delle tre sessioni.
La Superpole si è disputata nel primo pomeriggio con una temperatura esterna di 33 gradi e con la pista nuovamente scivolosa a causa della sabbia portata dal vento. Ma proprio in queste difficili condizioni sono emerse le doti di guida del pilota del Turkish Puccetti Racing che con il tempo di 1’41”234 ha conquistato la quarta posizione che significa una partenza dalla seconda fila nella prima gara del weekend argentino che si è disputata nel pomeriggio sulla distanza di 21 giri.
Il pilota del Turkish Puccetti Racing è stato autore di una gara eccezionale. Scattato molto bene al via, Toprak si portava subito nel gruppo si testa. In pochi giri al comando della gara restavano in tre, Bautista, Rea e Razgatlioglu. I due piloti della Kawasaki cercavano di opporsi alla maggiore potenza del motore della Ducati dello spagnolo, ma sui due lunghi rettilinei Bautista riusciva ad acquisire un vantaggio che gli permetteva di vincere la gara. Alle sue spalle il pilota del Turkish Puccetti Racing lottava sino agli ultimi giri con il campione del mondo Rea per la seconda posizione, ma anche a causa di un calo di gomme non riusciva nel suo intento, e passava sotto la bandiera a scacchi in terza posizione, conquistando il suo undicesimo podio stagionale. Negli ultimi otto round Toprak è sempre salito sul podio almeno una volta e con il terzo posto odierno conquista il titolo degli Independet Riders, vale a dire il miglior pilota di un team non ufficiale.
Nella classifica del campionato Toprak occupa ora la quinta posizione con 276 punti, in piena lotta per la terza posizione in campionato.
Domani Razgatlioglu disputerà la Tissot Superpole Race di soli 10 giri e a seguire la seconda ed ultima gara di questa trasferta argentina.

Toprak Razgatlioglu: “La Superpole è andata bene anche se spingere al massimo su questa pista sporca e scivolosa, non è stato per niente facile. In gara puntavo alla vittoria ed ho tenuto subito un ritmo molto elevato. Sono rimasto con Rea e Bautista sino a metà gara ma la superiorità della moto dello spagnolo in rettilineo è netta e quindi mi sono ritrovato a lottare con Rea per la seconda posizione. Purtroppo avevo chiesto troppo alle gomme e mi sono dovuto accontentare del terzo posto, che però mi laurea Campione degli Independet Riders. Un grande risultato per me e per la mia squadra che ha sempre lavorato molto per me e che viene giustamente premiata da questa vittoria! Per domani dovrebbe essere meno caldo e questo ci dovrebbe garantire un grip migliore. Speriamo perché correre così è davvero difficile”.
Manuel Puccetti – Team Principal : “Con questo undicesimo podio di Toprak abbiamo matematicamente vinto con cinque gare di anticipo il titolo degli Independet Riders 2019 che rappresenta il massimo obiettivo per un team privato come è il nostro. Siamo molto contenti di questo podio e di questo titolo che premia il grande lavoro di noi tutti. Sono otto weekend che non scendiamo dal podio ed è un risultato fantastico per una squadra privata. Sono grandi risultati che però non ci appagano, ma al contrario ci stimolano a dare sempre il massimo per conquistarne altri”.

Turkish Puccetti Racing have completed day two of practice and Superbike making up round twelve of the Superbike world championship, taking place at San Juan Villicum in Argentina this weekend.
Yesterday, the conditions of the track, dirty with sand, conditioned the first two free practice sessions in which Toprak Razgatlioglu finished sixth overall.
This morning, the young Turk was back on track for the third and final practice. The track was clean and so less slippery, which meant Toprak was able to improve on his best time set yesterday by five seconds and take first place overall with a fastest time of 1’39”561.
The Superpole took place in the early afternoon with an air temperature of 33°. The track was once again slippery as more sand had been blown onto the surface. But in these tricky conditions, the Turkish Puccetti Racing rider’s talents really came to the fore, the Turk setting a best of 1’41”234 to finish fourth, translating into a place on the second row of the grid for the weekend’s first 21-lap race, which took place this afternoon.
The Turkish Puccetti Racing rider put together an exceptional race. Having made an extremely good start, Toprak placed inside the leading group. In just a few laps, three riders were controlling the race, namely Bautista, Rea and Razgatlioglu. The two Kawasaki riders tried to battle against the Ducati’s superior engine power, but Bautista was able to gain an advantage along the two long straights, something that saw him ultimately win the race. Behind him, the Turkish Puccetti Racing rider fought world champion Rea almost to the end, but a drop in tyre performance prevented him from securing second place, the Turk thus finishing third and earning his eleventh podium of the season. In the last eight rounds, Toprak has reached the podium at least once and, with today’s result, he secures the Independent Riders title, awarded to the best rider on a non-factory team.
In the championship standings, Toprak now lies fifth with 276 points, third place still well within his reach.
Tomorrow will see Razgatlioglu take part in the 10-lap Tissot Superpole Race followed by the second Superbike race of the weekend.

Toprak Razgatlioglu: “Superpole went well though it wasn’t easy to push at this track, so dirty and slippery. In the race, I was aiming for the win and immediately set a fast pace. I stuck with Rea and Bautista until the mid-race point, but the Spaniard’s bike, superior along the straight, meant that I found myself battling with Rea for second. Unfortunately, I’d asked too much of the tyres and I had to settle for third, but I have secured the Independent Riders title. A great result for me and the team, who have worked so hard for me and who well deserve this victory! Tomorrow should be less hot and this should mean better grip. We hope so, because racing like this is very difficult”.
Manuel Puccetti – Team Principal: “With Toprak’s eleventh podium, we have mathematically won the 2019 Independent Riders title with five races still to go, the ultimate achievement for a private team like ours. We’re very pleased with this podium and this title, which rewards all our hard work. We’ve been on the poduim, for eight consecutive race weekends now, a fantastic result for a private team such as ours. We will not settle with these results as, on the contrary, they push us to give it our all and achieve even more”.
