Turkish Puccetti Racing – A Portimao Razgatlioglu conquista l’ottavo podio in sei round

L’Autodromo Internacional do Algarve di Portimao in Portogallo ha ospitato oggi la terza ed ultima giornata di gare valida per il decimo round del campionato mondiale Superbike. Ieri il pilota del Turkish Puccetti Racing Toprak Razgatlioglu dopo aver ottenuto il tredicesimo posto in Superpole, aveva conquistato la sesta posizione in gara1, dopo aver lottato a lungo per la quarta posizione.
Questa mattina, in una calda giornata di sole, Razgatlioglu è sceso in pista per il warm up, utile per definire l’assetto della sua Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR in vista delle successive due gare.
Nella Tissot Superpole Race che si è disputata come sempre sulla distanza di dieci giri, Toprak ha ancora preso il via dalla quinta fila, come in gara1. La sua partenza è stata velocissima e gli ha permesso di transitare al primo giro in settima posizione. Il giovane pilota turco ha forzato subito il suo ritmo per non perdere contatto con i primi. Al sesto passaggio Toprak ha superato Haslam portandosi al quarto posto e mantenendo la posizione sino alla bandiera a scacchi, e concludendo la sua gara a meno di due secondi dal podio. Un quarto posto importante in quanto, in base ai nuovi regolamenti. ha permesso a Razgatlioglu di prendere il via dalla quarta casella, che equivale alla seconda fila, sulla griglia di partenza di gara2.
Allo spegnersi del semaforo il pilota del Turkish Puccetti Racing è scattato fortissimo, andando ad occupare la seconda posizione, subito alle spalle del leader Rea. Nei giri successivi entrambi i piloti della Kawasaki sono stati superati da Bautista. Nel finale di gara a causa dell’usura delle sue gomme, Toprak ha dovuto ridurre la sua andatura ma ha comunque mantenuto il terzo posto, andando così a conquistare il suo ottavo podio, tutti ottenuti negli ultimi sei round.
Nella classifica del campionato Razgatlioglu è sesto con 223 punti, a soli 6 punti dalla quinta posizione. Nella speciale classifica degli “Indipendent Riders” mantiene la prima posizione con 70 punti di vantaggio sul secondo, Marco Melandri.
Il prossimo appuntamento con il campionato mondiale Superbike è fissato per il 27, 28 e 29 settembre all’autodromo Nevers Magny Cours in Francia.

Manuel Puccetti – Team Principal: “Un altro fine settimana eccezionale, che ci ha portato due podi che rappresentano due gradite conferme. In Supersport Mahias ha conquistato il terzo podio consecutivo, a dimostrazione che possiamo lottare per la vittoria in ogni round e che abbiamo ormai quasi completamente eliminato il gap che ad inizio stagione ci separava dai primi. In Superbike Toprak ha fatto due gare fantastiche. Nella Superpole race è riuscito a concludere ad un passo dal podio nonostante sia dovuto partire dalla quinta fila. In gara2 è entrato in pista deciso a vincere, e solo due piloti del calibro di Rea e Bautista glielo hanno impedito. Per lui si tratta dell’ottavo podio negli ultimi sei round e possiamo affermare senza tema di smentita di aver portato Razgatlioglu tra i top rider di questa categoria. Torniamo a casa molto soddisfatti, ma con la consapevolezza di dover continuare a lavorare con il massimo impegno, per poter proseguire su questa strada”.

Toprak Razgatlioglu: “Nella Superpole race ho pagato la mia posizione di partenza dalla quinta fila. Prima della partenza abbiamo modificato l’assetto della mia moto e la situazione è migliorata. Nella gara sprint ho dato il massimo, anche perché volevo conquistare una buona posizione sulla griglia di gara2. Nella seconda gara ero dietro a Rea e stavo tenendo il suo passo quando è arrivato Bautista che in rettilineo era troppo veloce per noi, tanto che è subito passato al comando. Ho provato a restare il più possibile assieme a Rea, ma nel finale le mie gomme sono calate e la moto ha iniziato a scivolare per cui ho pensato a non commettere errori e a chiudere al terzo posto. Un ottimo risultato, visto che è il mio ottavo podio in sei round, anche se io voglio vincere e quindi ci riproverò nelle prossime gara di Magny Cours. Voglio ringraziare il mio team che ha fatto un lavoro incredibile per tutto il weekend”.

Turkish Puccetti Racing – Razgatlioglu scores his eighth podium in six rounds at Portimao

The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal today hosted the third and final day of round ten of the Superbike world championship. Yesterday, Turkish Puccetti Racing rider Toprak Razgatlioglu, how qualified in thirteenth in the Superpole, scored sixth place in race 1 having battled for fourth for much of the race.
This morning, in hot and sunny conditions, Razgatlioglu was out on track for warm-up, which served to define the set-up of his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR ahead of the day’s two races.
In the Tissot Superpole Race that took place over ten laps, Toprak once again lined up from row five, like in race 1. He made a very fast start which allowed to him to place seventh on lap one. The young Turk immediately pushed to keep contact with the leaders. On lap six, Toprak passed Haslam to move into fourth and then held that position until the line, closing his race less than two seconds from the podium. An important fourth place in that, in accordance with the new regulation, it allowed Razgatlioglu to line up in fourth place on the grid, so on row two, for race 2.
When the lights went out, the Turkish Puccetti Racing rider made a flying start, immediately moving into second position behind leader Rea. Over the subsequent laps, the Kawasaki riders were overtaken by Bautista. In the final stages and due to tyre wear, Toprak had to reduce his pace but nevertheless closed in third position, scoring his eighth podium of the last six rounds.
In the championship standings, Razgatlioglu lies sixth with 223 points, just 6 points from fifth position. In the special “Independent Riders” standing, he leads the way with a 70-point advantage over second-placed Marco Melandri.
The next Superbike world championship is set to take place over the weekend of 27-29 September at Nevers Magny Cours track in France.

Manuel Puccetti – Team Principal: “Another exceptional weekend, which has brought us two podiums that come as two further confirmations. In Supersport, Mahias scored a third consecutive podium, proving that we can fight for the win at every round and that we have almost totally eliminated the gap that separated us from the frontrunners at the start of the season. In Superbike Toprak ran two fantastic races. In the Superpole race, he was able to finish close to the podium despite starting from the fifth row. In race 2, he headed out determined to win, and only two riders of the calibre of Rea and Bautista prevented him. This is his eighth podium in the last six rounds, and we can confirm without a doubt that Razgatlioglu is now among the category’s top riders. We return home very pleased, but with the awareness that we need to continue to work with maximum commitment, to continue along this same path”.

Toprak Razgatlioglu: “In the Superpole race I paid for my fifth-row start. Before the start, we modified the set-up and the situation improved. In the sprint race, I gave it my all, also because I wanted to score a good position on the grid for race 2. In the second race, I was behind Rea and keeping pace when Bautista arrived, he was too fast for us along the straight and immediately passed us. I tried to stick with Rea for as long as possible but in the final stages the tyres dropped, and the bike began to slide so I decided not to risk any mistakes and close third. A great result, seeing as it’s my eighth podium in six rounds, though I want to win and will try again at the Magny Cours race. I want to thank my team as they’ve done an incredible job all weekend”.
