Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Fantastico secondo posto di Mahias nella gara WorldSS di San Juan
Dopo due giornate nelle quali le condizioni della pista, sporca e con molta sabbia, avevano reso estremamente difficile il lavoro dei tecnici e dei piloti, oggi finalmente il tracciato argentino di San Juan si presentava abbastanza pulito e meno scivoloso, permettendo così il regolare svolgimento delle gare.
Nella Superpole di ieri il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing aveva ottenuto il quinto posto con Lucas Mahias e l’undicesimo con Hikari Okubo.
Oggi in una giornata fresca e con un cielo nuvoloso, Mahias ha preso il via dalla seconda fila e Okubo dalla quarta, nella gara che si è disputata sulla distanza di 19 giri.
Confermando di aver ormai in pugno la propria moto e di essere in grado di sfruttarne tutto il potenziale, il francese è stato autore di una grande gara. Terzo al termine del primo giro, Lucas è rimasto per tutta la gara nel gruppo di testa, scambiandosi le posizioni con gli altri piloti in lotta per la vittoria. Solo nel finale Cluzel riusciva ad acquisire un vantaggio che si rivelava incolmabile, ma Mahias era bravo a precedere tutti i suoi avversari nella lotta per il podio, concludendo al secondo posto. E’ il quinto podio consecutivo per il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing che in classifica occupa il quarto posto con 143 punti.
Gara difficile per Okubo che ha accusato delle anomale vibrazioni sulla sua moto che si amplificavano sui due lunghi rettilinei del tracciato di San Juan. Questo problema ha limitato le prestazioni del pilota giapponese che si è dovuto accontentare della dodicesima posizione.
In Classifica Okubo è ora quinto con 97 punti.
Il prossimo ed ultimo appuntamento con il campionato mondiale Supersport è fissato per il 24,25 e 26 ottobre sul circuito di Losail in Qatar.

Lucas Mahias: “la gara è stata bellissima. Subito dopo la partenza non avevo un buon feeling con la moto, così come non lo avevo avuto nemmeno nelle prove e nelle qualifiche. Ero stato un poco lento probabilmente perché non avevo seguito gli altri piloti durante le prove. In gara osservando come guidavano gli altri piloti ho capito subito come potevo essere più veloce in alcuni punti del tracciato e da metà gara in poi sono stato davvero veloce. Ho provato a conquistare la vittoria ma non era possibile. Una buona gara per me e per la Kawasaki e quindi sono felice”.
Okubo
Hikari Okubo: “La gara odierna è stata davvero molto difficile per me in quanto ho avuto un problema di vibrazioni ad iniziare dal secondo giro. Quando risollevavo la moto ed affrontavo i lunghi rettilinei la moto vibrava molto e quindi io non ho potuto spingere forte, incrementando il mio ritmo e non ho potuto impegnarmi al massimo come avrei voluto. Non riesco a capire il motivo di queste vibrazioni che si innescavano dalla parte posteriore della moto. Controlleremo la moto in Qatar prima dell’ultimo round del campionato”.

Kawasaki Puccetti Racing – Fantastic second place for Mahias in the WorldSS race at San Juan
Following two days during which track conditions, very dirty and sandy, made the work very difficult for technicians and riders alike, today the Argentinian track of San Juan was fairly clean and less slippery, allowing for the races to go ahead as planned.
During yesterday’s Superpole, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing scored fifth place with Lucas Mahias and eleventh with Hikari Okubo.
Today, in cooler conditions and under cloudy skies, Mahias lined up on the second row of the grid and Okubo from the fourth for the 19-lap race.
Proving that he is in control of his bike and able to exploit its full potential, the Frenchman put together a great race. Third by the end of lap one, Lucas remained part of the leading group for the duration of the race, exchanging positions with other riders fighting for the win. Only in the final stages was Cluzel able to gain an advantage, but Mahias did well to fight off the rest of his competition and cross the line second. This is the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider’s fifth consecutive podium and he lies fourth in the standings with 143 points.
A difficult race for Okubo who was suffering from some unusual vibrations on his bike that only worsened down the San Juan track’s two long straight. This problem limited the Japanese rider’s performance, his final result a twelfth-place finish.
Okubo likes fifth in the standings with 97 points.
The next and final round of the Supersport world championship is set to take place over the weekend of 24-26 October at the Losail circuit in Qatar.

Lucas Mahias: “The race was a good one. When I started out, I did not have a good feeling because in practice and qualifying the feeling hadn’t been so positive. I was a little bit slow in those sessions but maybe because I did not follow other riders. In the race I looked at the other riders and understood that there were a few points of the track where I could go faster. Finally, by the middle of the race, I was very fast. I pushed to try and move into first position, but it was not possible. A good race, also for Kawasaki, so I am happy.”
Hikari Okubo: “Today’s race was so difficult because I suffered some serious vibration right from the start of the second lap. When I picked up the bike going onto the straight it was vibrating so I could not push any harder than I did. I was therefore unable to remain motivated during the race. I do not know why we had this vibration from the rear. We will try to make up for this in Qatar anyway.”
