Seconda vittoria per Mahias e secondo posto per Fores a Misano CIV
Seconda giornata di gare per il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing al Misano World Circuit nel secondo round del CIV, Campionato Italiano Velocità. Ieri i piloti di Manuel Puccetti hanno disputato la prima gara sia nella classe Supersport che nella Superbike. Essendo iscritti come wild card (anche se in Supersport Lucas Mahias e Philipp Oettl utilizzano ZX-6R conformi ai regolamenti CIV) nessuno dei tre prende punti o sale sul podio in caso di piazzamento in una delle prime tre posizioni. Per questo motivo la vittoria di Lucas Mahias, dopo una gara molto combattuta, è stata solo virtuale, così come il terzo posto di Xavi Fores nella classe Superbike (dove lo spagnolo utilizza la stessa moto del mondiale SBK). L’obiettivo del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing in questo weekend è quello di allenarsi in vista del secondo round dei mondiali SS e SBK che si disputeranno la prossima settimana a Jerez de la Frontera in Spagna. Un’ottima occasione per i piloti per ritornare in sella ed in modalità gara.
Oggi, in una calda giornata di sole, il primo a tornare in pista è stato Xavi Fores che ha disputato la seconda gara della Superbike. Così come ieri la gara si è corsa sulla distanza di 16 giri e lo spagnolo ha preso il via dalla nona casella della griglia, con la sua Ninja che sfoggia la prestigiosa livrea ELF, a ribadire il decennale accordo tra l’azienda di lubrificanti ed il team italiano.
La partenza del pilota spagnolo è stata efficace, tanto che gli ha permesso di portarsi subito al quarto posto. Dopo aver lottato per alcuni giri con un avversario, Xavi si portava al terzo posto, per poi tagliare il traguardo in seconda posizione. Un ottimo risultato che conferma i miglioramenti sia di Fores, che non saliva sulla sua Ninja dalla gara dell’Australia corsa a marzo, che della moto.
Nel tardo pomeriggio è stata la volta della Supersport, con Mahias che puntava a difendere la leadership di ieri e Oettl (sesto in gara1) che aveva l’obiettivo di migliorare il suo risultato. I due alfieri del team di Puccetti, entrambi alla guida di moto conformi al regolamento CIV, scattavano bene allo spegnersi del semaforo. Mahias si portava subito in testa alla gara e ci restava sino al settimo passaggio, quando veniva superato, ma restava saldamente in controllo del gara al secondo posto. A due giri dal termine il francese sferrava l’attacco decisivo ed andava a vincere, bissando il successo di ieri.
Oettl, sesto nei primi giri, restava a sua volta nel gruppo di testa. Al quinto giro il tedesco saliva in quinta posizione e ci restava sin sotto la bandiera a scacchi.
Per il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing il prossimo appuntamento in pista è fissato la prossima settimana a Jerez de la Frontera in Spagna, per il secondo round dei Campionati Mondiali Supersport e Superbike.

“Questa mattina nel warm up la moto andava molto bene, mentre in gara ho fatto un poco di fatica, probabilmente per il grande caldo. La moto era “morbida” e quando aprivo il gas pompava tantissimo e diventava difficile da controllare e dovevo piegare tanto per far girare bene la moto. Non ho ancora il feeling che vorrei avere con la mia Ninja, ma in questo weekend abbiamo fatto un grande passo in avanti e abbiamo capito su quale parte della moto dovremo continuare a lavorare a Jerez. E’ stato importante correre qui nel CIV perché mi sono tolto di dosso la ruggine accumulata in questo periodo di sosta forzata ed abbiamo fatto un passo avanti nel trovare il migliore assetto per la mia moto. Fisicamente sto bene e sono pronto ad affrontare il secondo round del mondiale. Ringrazio il team che ha lavorato molto per me qui a Misano”.

“Sono molto contento di aver corso qui al CIV a Misano. E’ stato un ottimo test in preparazione al prossimo weekend di Jerez. La gara odierna è stata molto divertente. Sono partito forte, perché volevo vincere, e mi sono ritrovato da solo in prima posizione, ma in pochi giri sono stato raggiunto e superato. Ho lottato per alcuni giri con un altro pilota ed ho spinto forte, facendo segnare il nuovo record della pista di Misano per il CIV Supersport. Sono soddisfatto e pronto per le gare di Jerez. Grazie al mio team che ha fatto come sempre un gran lavoro”.

“Queste gare del CIV sono state molto importanti, specialmente quella di oggi. Voglio ringraziare la mia squadra che ha fatto un grande lavoro. Ieri sera ho chiesto una modifica al set up della mia ZX-6R e sono riusciti ad accontentarmi, dimostrando tutta l’esperienza che hanno su questa moto. La gara è andata meglio di ieri. Ho avuto qualche difficoltà all’inizio ma poi ho trovato un buon ritmo ed ho chiuso al quinto posto. Un weekend nel complesso molto positivo. Il miglior modo per prepararci alla ripresa del mondiale”.

Second win for Mahias and second place for Forés at Misano CIV
Kawasaki Puccetti Racing has concluded day two of racing at the Misano World Circuit, competing in round two of the Italian CIV championship. Yesterday, Manuel Puccetti’s riders competed in the first Supersport and Superbike races. Entered as wild cards (despite Lucas Mahias and Philipp Oettl using ZX-6R machines that conform with the CIV Supersport regulation), none of the three riders were able to score points or go on the podium in case of a top-three finish. For this reason, Lucas Mahias’ win, coming at the end of a hard-fought race, was only virtual, as was Xavi Forés’ third-place finish in the Superbike class (where the Spaniard uses the same bike as he does in WorldSBK). The goal for Kawasaki Puccetti Racing this weekend was to train ahead of the second round of the SS and SBK world championships taking place next weekend at Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. An excellent opportunity for the riders to get back into race mode.
Today, in sunny conditions, the first to head out on track was Xavi Forés who competed in the second Superbike race. Like yesterday, the race ran over 16 laps and the Spaniard lined up ninth on the grid, his Ninja featuring the prestigious ELF livery, to celebrate ten years of collaboration between the lubricants company and the Italian team.
The Spaniard made an efficient start, moving straight up into fourth place. Having battled with a rival through the opening stages, Xavi moved into third, before powering across the line in second place. An excellent result that confirms the improvement made by both Forés, who hadn’t ridden his Ninja since the Australian round in March, and the bike.
In the late afternoon, it was time for the second Supersport race, with Mahias aiming to repeat yesterday’s success, and Oettl (sixth in race 1) hoping to improve on Saturday’s result. The two Puccetti riders, both riding bikes that conform with the CIV regulation, got away well when the lights went out. Mahias immediately moved into the lead, a position he held until lap seven, after which he continued to manage his race in second place. Two laps from the end, the Frenchman made his definitive move, attacking the race leader and passing him to repeat yesterday’s success.
Oettl, sixth over the opening laps, was able to stick with the leading group. On lap five, the German moved up into fifth place, a position he held to the line.
Kawasaki Puccetti Racing will be back on track next week for round two of the Supersport and Superbike world championships set to run at Jerez de la Frontera in Spain.

“This morning the bike was working well in warm-up but then I struggled a little in the race, probably due to the heat. The bike was “soft” and when I opened the throttle it would pogo and became difficult to control, so I had to lean hard to turn the bike. I don’t yet have the feeling I’d like with my Ninja, but we’ve taken a big step forward this weekend and know where we need to work on the bike at Jerez. It was important to race here in the CIV because I’ve got back into the swing of things after the long break and we’ve taken a step in terms of finding the best setting for my bike. Physically I’m in good shape and am ready for the second world championship round. Thanks to my team for all their hard work here at Misano.”

“I’m very pleased to have raced here at Misano CIV. It’s been a great test in preparation for next weekend at Jerez. Today’s race was great fun. I started well because I wanted to win, and I found myself out in front on my own, but I was soon caught and passed. I battled with another rider for a few laps and pushed hard, setting a new track record for CIV Supersport at Misano. I’m pleased and ready for the Jerez races. “These CIV races have been very important, particularly todays. I want to thank my team for their great work. Yesterday, I asked for a set-up change to my ZX-6R and they were able to satisfy my requests, proving their experience with the bike. The race went better than the first. I had a few difficulties early on but then I got into a good rhythm and closed in fifth place. Overall a very positive weekend, the best way to prepare for the world championship restart.”
