Primo round del mondiale SBK e SS per il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing a Phillip Island
Terminati i due giorni di test ufficiali disputati sulla fantastica pista di Phillip Island in Australia, il team Kawasaki Puccetti Racing ed il Turkish Puccetti Racing si apprestano a tornare sullo stesso tracciato venerdì 22 febbraio, per la prima giornata di prove, valide per il primo round del campionato mondiale Supersport e Superbike.
Nei test ufficiali della Supersport i due piloti Lucas Mahias ed Hikari Okubo hanno avuto modo di lavorare alla messa a punto delle loro Ninja ZX-6R, facendo segnare rispettivamente il sesto ed il settimo tempo. Sesto posto anche per Toprak Razgatlioglu nelle prove della Superbike, con il giovane pilota turco che ha potuto provare il nuovo motore della sua Ninja ZX-10R in versione 2019.
Questo il commento del Team Principal Manuel Puccetti: “I test della Superbike sono stati senza dubbio positivi. Siamo riusciti a portare a termine tutto il lavoro che ci eravamo prefissati e venerdì lavoreremo sulla distanza della gara. Per quanto riguarda invece la Supersport siamo soddisfatti dei set up delle nostre moto, ma resta il grosso punto interrogativo che riguarda le gomme. Questa è una pista che crea molti problemi agli pneumatici e noi ne sappiamo qualcosa, visto che proprio qui Sofuoglu ha avuto un incidente che ha di fatto posto fine alla sua carriera, proprio a causa delle gomme”.
Il nuovo format 2019 dei due campionati mondiali prevede per il venerdì due sessioni di prove libere per ciascuna categoria. Il sabato dopo un ulteriore sessione di prove libere, si disputeranno le due Superpole, prima quella della SBK e a seguire quella della SS. Alle 15 ora locale prenderà il via Gara1 SBK. Domenica, dopo i due warm up, alle 12 scatterà la Superpole Race SBK, gara sprint di 10 giri. A seguire alle 13:15 scatterà la gara della Supersport, mentre la terza gara della SBK che inizierà alle 15 chiuderà il programma di questo primo round.

First round of the SBK and SS for Kawasaki Puccetti Racing at Phillip Island
Having concluded official testing at the stunning Phillip Island track in Australia, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team and the Turkish Puccetti Racing team prepare to return to the same track on Friday 22 February, for the first free practice sessions of the opening Supersport and Superbike world championship rounds.
During the official Supersport tests, the two riders Lucas Mahias and Hikari Okubo were able to work on the setup of their Ninja ZX-6R bikes, setting the sixth and seventh fastest time respectively. Toprak Razgatlioglu also closed sixth in the Superbike tests, the young Turk also having chance to test the new engine of his Ninja ZX-10R in its 2019 configuration.
Team Principal Manuel Puccetti comments: “The Superbike tests were undoubtedly positive. We were able to complete all the work we had planned and on Friday we ill focus on race distance. As for Supersport, we are pleased with the setup of our bikes, but there is still a big question mark in terms of the tyres. This is a track that causes many problems for the tyres and we know something about this, as it was here that Sofuoglu had the accident that put an end to his career, which was due to the tyres.”
The new 2019 format for the two world championships sees two free practice sessions for each category on Friday. Then, on Saturday, another free practice session followed by the two Superpoles, first SBK and then SS. At 3pm local time SBK race 1 will get underway. On Sunday, following the two warm-ups, the SBK Superpole race, a 10-lap sprint race, will kick off at 12.00pm. This will be followed by the Supersport race, at 1.15pm, and the third SBK race, which starts at 3pm, rounding out the weekend schedule.
