Peccato per Oettl che ha sofferto le difficili condizioni del meteo e della pista, e non è riuscito ad esprimere tutto il suo potenziale. Sono sicuro che otterrà risultati migliori nel prossimo round dell’Estoril, così come farà anche Fores, che ieri ha conquistato un buon risultato ma oggi in gara2 è stato tradito dalle difficili condizioni della pista”.

Mahias domina la seconda gara WorldSS di Magny Cours!
Seconda ed ultima giornata di gare oggi sul circuito Nevers Magny Cours in Francia, nel settimo e penultimo round del Campionato Mondiale Supersport. Ieri, in una giornata fredda e piovosa, oltre alla Superpole si è disputata la prima gara del weekend, ed il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, il francese Lucas Mahias, è salito per la quarta volta consecutiva sul secondo gradino del podio, dopo una gara che lo ha visto lottare sino alla fine per la vittoria. Sfortunato Philipp Oettl, solo quattordicesimo per un problema alla visiera del casco.
Anche la giornata odierna è stata caratterizzata dal freddo e dalla pioggia, che ha bagnato la pista francese. In seguito ai risultati conseguiti nella Superpole, anche oggi Mahias ha preso il via dalla prima fila e Oettl dalla sesta, nella tredicesima gara della stagione, che si è disputata sulla distanza di 18 giri.
Mahias scattava velocissimo allo spegnersi del semaforo e si portava in testa alla gara. Nonostante le proibitive condizioni della pista e sotto una pioggia battente, il francese teneva un ritmo al quale nessuno dei suoi avversari era in grado di resistere ed il suo vantaggio aumentava giro dopo giro. Al decimo passaggio Lucas faceva segnare il giro veloce della gara in 1’54”796 per poi tagliare indisturbato il traguardo e conquistare così la sua ottava vittoria in carriera in Supersport, la terza da quando corre con il Kawasaki Puccetti Racing.
Ottima e generosa la gara di Phillip Oettl, che è stato in grado di rimontare dalla diciottesima posizione iniziale sino all’undicesimo posto finale.
Nella classifica del campionato Mahias è secondo con 184 punti, mentre Oettl è quarto con 131.
L’ottavo ed ultimo round del Campionato Mondiale Supersport si disputerà sul circuito dell’Estoril in Portogallo, dal 16 al 18 ottobre.

“E’ tutto l’anno che inseguo questa vittoria ed averla ottenuta nella gara di casa è davvero incredibile – così come lo era stato lo scorso anno. All’inizio non avevo un grande feeling con la moto anche perché il set-up non era perfetto e stava ancora piovendo molto forte. Ho spinto forte sin dall’inizio per far entrare le gomme in temperatura. Quando ho visto il gap nei confronti dei piloti che mi seguivano ho continuato a spingere. Gli ultimi otto giri sono stati molto lunghi, in quanto ho dovuto gestire il mio vantaggio e le gomme si stavano raffreddando e quindi è stato davvero difficile. Dentro di me mi chiedevo “devo continuare a spingere o no?” Alla fine ho vinto ed è stata una grande felicità per la Kawasaki, per la squadra, per i miei tifosi e per me. Il clima non è stato certamente benevolo, ma c’erano dei tifosi sulle tribune e questo è molto positivo per il motociclismo francese”.

“Quella di oggi è stata una gara importante. Avevo un buon feeling con la moto ma quando ho visto uno dei miei avversari cadere vicino a me ho pensato che era meglio portare a casa un po di punti piuttosto che cadere a mia volta. Ero in ottava posizione e la situazione in pista non era certamente facile. Il mio obiettivo è quello di chiudere al terzo posto nella classifica del campionato e quindi penso di aver preso la decisione giusta. Il mio feeling era buono ma non posso dire esattamente come mai non riusciamo a trovare una soluzione migliore per il bagnato. Non conosco ancora molto bene come si comportano queste gomme rain, ma abbiamo imparato molto in queste gare e dobbiamo controllare alcune cose per essere sicuri di essere competitivi la prossima volta che correremo sotto la pioggia”.

Secondo gradino del podio per Mahias a Magny Cours!
Anche la seconda giornata del settimo round del Campionato Mondiale Supersport in svolgimento sul circuito Nevers Magny Cours in Francia, è stata caratterizzata dalla pioggia e dalle difficili condizioni della pista.
Nelle due sessioni di prove libere disputate ieri sotto la pioggia, i due piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, Lucas Mahias e Philipp Oettl, avevano concluso rispettivamente al secondo ed all’undicesimo posto.
Entrambi sono tornati in pista questa mattina, per il terzo ed ultimo turno di libere, che si disputato ancora su pista bagnata. Mahias ha fermato i cronometri sul tempo di 1’55”373 classificandosi al secondo posto sia nella sessione, che nella classifica dei tre turni di libere. Il miglior giro di Oettl è stato in 2’00”008, ed il pilota tedesco, diciassettesimo del turno, ha concluso in dodicesima posizione nella classifica cumulativa delle prove libere.
Nel primo pomeriggio si è disputata la settima Superpole stagionale, su di una pista bagnata ma che si stava asciugando. Ancora una volta Lucas Mahias ha dimostrato di trovarsi a proprio agio sul tracciato di casa e con il tempo di 1’49”467 ha ottenuto il secondo posto. Superpole difficile invece quella di Oettl, che con il tempo di 1’53”313 ha concluso in diciottesima posizione.
A seguito di questo risultati Mahias è scattato dalla prima fila e Oettl dalla sesta, nella dodicesima gara del WorldSS, che si è disputata sulla distanza di 18 giri.
Il francese scattava molto bene allo spegnersi del semaforo e si posizionava in seconda posizione, iniziando a lottare per la vittoria con Locatelli. I due restavano vicini per tutta la gara e solo nel finale l’italiano accumulava un leggero vantaggio. Nel corso dell’ultimo giro, a causa di una caduta, veniva esposta la bandiera rossa e la gara veniva considerata conclusa. Mahias si classificava al secondo posto, ad un secondo dalla prima posizione. Anche Oettl è partito molto velocemente ed ha recuperato alcune posizioni. In seguito il pilota tedesco è riuscito a risalire sino a raggiungere il nono posto, ma purtroppo nei giri finali, a causa di problemi di visibilità dovuti alla visiera del suo casco, Philipp era costretto a rallentare il suo ritmo, terminando la sua generosa ma sfortunata gara in quattordicesima posizione.
Per Mahias si tratta del sesto podio conquistato in questa stagione, e del quarto secondo posto consecutivo. Nella classifica del Campionato Mahias è secondo con 179 punti, mentre Oettl è quarto con 126.
Domani, sempre sul tracciato francese, i due piloti del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing saranno impegnati nella seconda gara WorldSS, che concluderà il loro weekend a Magny Cours.

“Sono felice di aver ottenuto questo secondo posto, ma non sono completamente soddisfatto, perché oggi per me c’erano tutte le condizioni necessarie per vincere la gara. Sin dai primi giri il mio feeling con la moto è stato diverso da quello che avevo avuto in tutto il resto del weekend. L’aderenza al posteriore non era buona specialmente in ingresso di curva e non so il perché. All’inizio ho anche pensato che non avrei concluso la gara perché ho rischiato di cadere varie volte, perdendo aderenza al posteriore. Ma dopo, quando la temperatura è migliorata, ho spinto forte per recuperare il terreno perduto. Ho perso cinque decimi di secondo per una sbandata, e subito dopo è stata esposta la bandiera rossa. Domani avrò un’altra possibilità di vittoria e sono pronto a coglierla”.

“L’andamento della gara è stato buono, sino a tre giri dal termine, quando ho iniziato ad avere grossi problemi di visibilità alla visiera del mio casco. Non vedevo bene e sono retrocesso sino al quattordicesimo posto. Avevo trovato un buon feeling con la moto ad inizio gara, anche se c’era molta più acqua rispetto alle prove. Ero risalito sino all’ottava/nona posizione, ma quando non riesci vedere bene la pista diventa tutto più difficile. Domani darò ancora il massimo e vediamo come andrà a finire”.

Una caduta ferma Fores sotto la pioggia di Magny Cours
Con la disputa della Superpole Race e di gara2, si è concluso oggi sul circuito Nevers Magny Cours in Francia il settimo e penultimo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike.
Così come nei giorni precedenti, anche oggi la pioggia e le basse temperature hanno caratterizzato la giornata, ed hanno reso bagnata e scivolosa la pista francese.
Xavi Fores, il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, ieri aveva ottenuto un buon ottavo posto nella prima gara del weekend, dopo che aveva concluso la Superpole in quattordicesima posizione. In conseguenza di questo risultato, questa mattina il pilota spagnolo ha preso il via dalla quinta fila nella Superpole Race, che si è disputata sulla distanza di dieci giri.
In partenza e nei primi giri, Xavi ha mantenuto la posizione che aveva in griglia. Sulla pista bagnata e resa scivolosa dalla pioggia, lo spagnolo ha cercato di recuperare qualche posizione senza rischiare una caduta, ed ha concluso al dodicesimo posto.
Nel pomeriggio Fores è tornato in pista per disputare gara2, l’ultima di questo weekend francese. Avendo ottenuto il dodicesimo posto nella Superpole race, Xavi in questa gara è scattato dalla quarta fila, nella gara che si è disputata sotto la pioggia.
La sua partenza non è stata molto veloce e nei primi giri il pilota spagnolo transitava attorno alla quindicesima posizione. Nei giri successivi riusciva a recuperare due posizioni, ma purtroppo nel corso del sesto giro era autore di una scivolata fortunatamente senza conseguenze fisiche per lui, ma nella caduta la sua moto si danneggiava e lo costringeva al ritiro.
L’ottavo ed ultimo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike si disputerà sul circuito dell’Estoril in Portogallo, dal 16 al 18 ottobre.

“Purtroppo oggi non è andata bene. Questa mattina per la Superpole Race abbiamo apportato una modifica alla moto che purtroppo non ha dato i risultati sperati. Nella gara del pomeriggio mi sono trovato un poco indietro in partenza ed allora ho cercato di incrementare il mio ritmo. Ho visto che avrei potuto raggiungere il gruppo dei piloti che mi precedevano, ed ho forzato una staccata nel tentativo di agganciarmi a loro, ma purtroppo sono scivolato. E’ un peccato finire il weekend in questo modo, anche perché nella gara di ieri avevamo ottenuto un buon risultato. Ora andiamo all’Estoril per chiudere al meglio questo campionato. Grazie ai ragazzi del mio team che hanno lavorato molto bene”.

Fores rimonta ed è ottavo sotto la pioggia di Magny Cours
Si sono disputate oggi sul Circuito Nevers Magny Cours in Francia, la Superpole e la prima gara del settimo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike.
Ieri le prime due sessioni di prove libere si erano disputate sotto la pioggia. Sulla pista resa scivolosa dall’acqua Xavi Fores, il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, aveva ottenuto il tredicesimo posto nella classifica cumulativa dei due turni.
Questa mattina il pilota spagnolo è tornato sul tracciato francese, ancora bagnato dalla pioggia, per il terzo ed ultimo turno di prove libere. Con il tempo di 1’51”421 Xavi ha chiuso al sesto posto della sessione, mantenendo la tredicesima posizione nella classifica generale dei tre turni di libere.
In tarda mattinata si è invece disputata la Superpole, che ha deciso lo schieramento di partenza della gara del pomeriggio. Sulla pista bagnata, ma che si stava asciugando, Fores ha fatto segnare il tempo di 1’50”549 ed ha concluso in quattordicesima posizione.
Con questo piazzamento Xavi ha ottenuto la quintafila nella gara che si è corsa nel pomeriggio, sulla distanza di 21 giri. La pioggia che ha ripreso a cadere, ha reso scivolosa la pista e non sono mancate le cadute. Subito dopo la partenza il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rischiava di cadere e perdeva alcune posizioni. Subito dopo però trovava un buon ritmo ed iniziava a risalire la classifica, sino a raggiungere il gruppo degli inseguitori per poi tagliare il traguardo all’ottavo posto.
Domani il pilota del Kawasaki Puccetti Racing disputerà la Superpole Race e gara2, l’ultimo appuntamento di questo weekend francese.

“E’ stata una gara difficile, nella quale ho cercato di risalire la classifica senza commettere errori. Subito dopo la partenza ho fatto una sbandata che mi fatto perdere molte posizioni. Mi sono impegnato a rimontare stando molto attento perché sulla pista bagnata era facile fare una scivolata. Mi sentivo bene con la moto e sono riuscito a raggiungere il gruppo che mi precedeva e a chiudere in ottava posizione. Mi sento ottimista per le due gare di domani, ma dobbiamo apportare qualche modifica all’assetto della moto, cercando di avere più grip al posteriore. In linea di massima però posso dire di essere soddisfatto della moto e del risultato di questa gara. Grazie al mio team che ha lavorato molto bene anche oggi”.

“We’ve had a good weekend, mainly because we scored another win. Lucas ran a great race, dominating from start to finish and he deserves this great result. A pity for Oettl who suffered with the tricky weather and track conditions and was unable to express his full potential. I’m sure he’ll score better results at the next Estoril round, as will Forés who scored a good result yesterday but was let down by the difficult track conditions in race 2 today.”

Mahias dominates the second WorldSS race at Magny Cours!
The seventh and penultimate Supersport World Championship round has now concluded at the Nevers Magny Cours circuit in France. The first Supersport race played out yesterday in cold, wet conditions and Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Lucas Mahias reached the second step of the podium for the fourth consecutive time, having battled for the win from start to finish. Philipp Oettl was less lucky, crossing the line fourteenth after a problem with his helmet visor.
Today’s conditions were much the same, meaning that the riders were in for another wet race. Yesterday’s Superpole results saw Mahias line up on the front row and Oettl from the sixth for the thirteenth race of the season, which ran over 18 laps.
Mahias got away extremely fast when the lights went out and immediately took the lead. Despite the difficult track conditions and pouring rain, the Frenchman was able to maintain a rhythm that his rivals couldn’t match, his advantage only increasing as the race went on. On lap ten, Lucas set the fastest lap of the race, a 1’54”796, before powering his way to the finish line undisturbed to achieve his eighth Supersport race win overall and his third with Kawasaki Puccetti Racing.
Phillip Oettl also ran a very strong race, climbing from initial eighteenth position to eleventh place in the final standings.
In the championship classification, Mahias lies second with 184 points, while Oettl is fourth with 131.
The eighth and final Supersport World Championship round will take place at the Estoril track in Portugal over the weekend of 16-18 October.

“All year I have been running after this victory so to win it at my home race is incredible – same as last year. I was not really confident at the beginning because the bike set-up was not perfect and it was raining heavily again. I pushed directly in the beginning to keep my tyres at a good temperature. When I saw the gap to the riders behind I kept pushing. The last eight laps were very long because I tried to manage the gap and my tyres were starting to cool down, so it was difficult. In my head I was saying, should I be pushing, not pushing? Finally it was very good for Kawasaki, the team, the French fans and me. The weather has been not very nice but we have fans at the track and this is very good for French motorcycling.”

“Today was an important race. I had a good feeling but when one of my rivals crashed I saved my points as it makes no sense to crash also. I was already P8 and it was a little bit tricky out there. I am still trying to finish third overall and I think it was the right decision. I had a good feeling but I cannot say exactly why and we can find a better solution in the wet. I do not know these tyres so well in wet conditions, but we learned a lot and we need to look at some things to make sure that in the next rainy race or practice session we can be a little bit more competitive.”

Second step of the podium for Mahias at Magny Cours!
Day two of the seventh Superbike world championship round was another wet one, the Nevers Magny Cours circuit in France characterised by rain and difficult track conditions.
In yesterday’s two practice sessions, which also took place in the rain, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders Lucas Mahias and Philipp Oettl finished second and eleventh respectively.
Both were back out this morning for the third and final practice, which took place in wet conditions. Mahias stopped the clock on 1’55”373 to finish second in both the session and the combined standings at the end of the practice. Oettl’s best lap, a 2’00”008, meant that he finished the session in seventeenth place, but was lying twelfth overall at the end of the three sessions.
The seventh Superpole of the season ran on a wet but drying track in the early afternoon. Mahias again proved at ease on what is his home track and with a best of 1’49”467, he scored second place. Oettl had a more difficult Superpole, closing in eighteenth place with a time of 1’53”313.
These results meant that Mahias lined up on the front row and Oettl from the sixth for the twelfth WorldSS race of the season, which ran over 18 laps.
The Frenchman got away very well when the lights went out and was lying second, immediately in the mix for the win along with Locatelli. The pair held firm for the entire race and only in the very final stages did the Italian build a slight lead. Over the course of the last lap, the red flag came out following a crash and the race was considered over. Mahias thus classified second, just one second from first. Oettl also made a very fast start and made up several places. The German rider was then able to climb up to ninth place but unfortunately over the final laps, visibility issues owing to his visor meant Philipp was forced to slow his pace, concluding what was a hard-fought but unlucky race in fourteenth place.
For Mahias this is the sixth podium achieved this season, and the fourth consecutive second place. In the championship standings, Mahias lies second with 179 points, while Oettl is fourth with 126.
Tomorrow the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing riders will return to the French track for the second WorldSS race, thus concluding their Magny Cours round.

I am happy for the result, to finish in second position, but for sure I am not happy overall because the conditions were maybe good for me to think about winning the race. From the first lap the feel from the bike was not the same as it had been all weekend. The grip on the rear was not so good, especially on the entry to the corners, but I do not know why. I thought I may not finish the race at the beginning, and I had a lot of opportunities to crash, losing the rear a few times. But after that, with the temperature coming a little better, I pushed to come back. I lost five tenths to a rear slide and then the red flag came out. It was OK, and I have one more chance to win tomorrow. I am ready.”

“The beginning of the race was good, until the last third, but then I had big problems with my visor and I could not see anything anymore, so I dropped back to 14th. I had a good feeling early in the race and there was a lot more water than in the practice sessions. At one point I was eighth or ninth but when you cannot see it is not so easy. I have to do my best again tomorrow and we will see how it goes.”

A crash stops Forés in the rain at Magny Cours
The seventh and penultimate round of the Superbike world championship has concluded today with the playing out of the Superpole Race and second Superbike race at the Nevers Magny Cours circuit in France.
Rain and low temperatures again characterised proceedings today, making for a very wet and slippery track for both of the day’s races.
Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Xavi Forés scored a solid eighth place finish in yesterda’s first race, after having concluded the Superpole in fourteenth place. As a result, the Spanish rider lined up on the fifth row of the grid for this morning’s 10-lap Superpole race.
Xavi held his starting position through the opening laps. On the wet and slippery track, the Spaniard tried to make up places without risking a crash, and eventually closed in twelfth place. In the afternoon, Forés was back on track for race 2, the last of the weekend. Having finished twelfth in the Superpole race, Xavi started this wet race from row four of the grid. He didn’t make the fastest start and through the opening stages, the Spaniard was lying around fifteenth. Over subsequent laps, he was able to make up two places, but unfortunately during the course of lap six, he suffered a crash that although didn’t cause him injury, damaged the bike to the extent that he was forced to retire.
The eighth and final round of the Superbike world championship will take place at the Estoril circuit in Portugal over the weekend of 14-16 October.

“Unfortunately today didn’t go so well. This morning we made a change to the bike for the Superpole race but it didn’t bring the desired results. In the afternoon race, I found myself a little further back at the start and so I tried to pick up the pace. I saw I could reach the group of riders ahead of me and forced my braking in an attempt to reach them, but unfortunately I crashed. Forés climbs to eighth in the rain at Magny Cours
The Superpole and first race of the seventh Superbike world championship round took place today at the French circuit of Nevers Magny Cours.
Yesterday’s first two practice sessions ran in the rain. On a slippery track, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing Xavi Forés obtained thirteenth place in the combined standings at the end of day one.
This morning, the Spaniard returned to the French track, still wet, for the third and final practice. With a time of 1’51”421, Xavi closed in sixth place, retaining thirteenth position in the aggregate standings.
In the late morning it was time for the Superpole, which established the grid for the afternoon’s race. On a wet track that gradually began to dry, Forés set a time of 1’50”549 and finished fourteenth.
With this result, Xavi earned a place on the fifth row of the grid for the afternoon’s 21-lap race. Rain again began to fall, making for a slippery track and no shortage of crashes. Right off the line, the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider risked crashing and lost several positions in the process. He then got into a good rhythm and began to climb back up the field, reaching the chasing group and ultimately crossing the line in eighth position.
Tomorrow will see the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider compete in the Superpole Race and Superbike race 2, the final event of this French round.

“It was a difficult race, in which I tried to climb back up the standings without making mistakes. Right after the start, I ran wide and lost many places. I then worked to make up the lost ground but had to be careful because it would have been easy to crash on the wet track. I felt good with the bike and was able to reach the group ahead of me and finish in eighth place. I feel optimistic ahead of tomorrow, but we need to make a few changes to the set-up of the bike, to find more grip at the rear. But overall I’m quite pleased with the bike and my result in this race. Thanks to my team for all their hard work today.”
